Nipsey Hussle Thread; The Marathon Continues

So what do you feel he needs to do better with? What's changed? Lyrics...production?
At one point his music had its own sound and vibe. It felt like he was operating within a vacuum. Complete tunnel vision. The features were local guys who you could tell were coming with their best verses. For example Rimpau had an out of body experience on "Walk In my Shoes." William Roberts and Young Thig aint what I'm lookin for. The production feels very commonplace in comparison to his initial releases. The stop n go staggered flow is literally a byproduct of dude just freestyling and getting punched in by the engineer. Those on take joints are so much better in comparison.I'm sayin I want his music to stay th same. Quite contrary actually. I just want it to get better at being what is not change into this pseudo motivational stunt rap that he does. Once again I'm not the only person saying this. Check other boards and even his comment sections.

^ No shots but that sounds like some nitpicking. Nipsey sounds chill at times but he's still spitting. He still puts local LA dudes on his project's, on Crenshaw and this new one. It's like some rap fans want their favorite artist to stay broke and keep making their 1st project. When he first came out he was banging so that's what his music was about. He's on his business grind right now so that's where he's at now music wise. Nipsey's music has grown for the better. It's motivational **** from a real dude.

Once again. I said I wasn't hating. Why would I want a guy to stay broke? He's making the "big name" artists hotter by putting them on his records because he is stamping them with his authenticity. It's a far more parasitic than symbiotic relationship. The polish to his music was far more evident in his earlier music in comparison to now. Oddly enough the prosperity ethos in his music is what got me back into his movement when I heard "Keys to the City." "7 days a week" is another song where his flow was on full display.
I hated fly crippin when I heard because it's divisive and irresponsible. I don't like the "banging" tracks. "Hussle in the House" was tuff but I can't honestly condone the message. The tracks seem to lack clarity. He seem more and more like a business man than an artist with every new release. The "spark" in the music just doesn't feel like it's there.

I would love for him to make a classic because as a listener that would only add to my life. But I can't front as though I'm enjoying something I'm not. I feel that's the worst thing I could do as a rap fan and initial supporter of fam's art.

He has talent but I'm not feeling his new methods/system. More ralo and less lean. He sounds sloppy as **** on his newer ****.

Pacman is on here, that's dope.  I like his music but Dom Kennedy's contribution was wack in my opinion.

Good tape, but I feel the folks who are saying something is lacking. Maybe it's just unrealistic expectations because of how he came on the scene so big, but buddy seems to be regressing lyrically. Great vibes to the songs though.

Speaking of lacking, this joint sounds awful in the whip. :lol I don't have the best setup, but this is almost on par with Wiz/Spitta's "How Fly".

That's How I Knew getting heavy replays.

I really like the production on this, tape flows together pretty well in my opinion too. I'm just glad he blessed us with a new tape it was the perfect way to help me bring in the new year.

man i have alot of nipseys material....i always thought he picked weird/bad beats(sometimes).

he could've blown up if he wanted but he continued to fly under radar by choice

I think his beats are better this time around and I don't feel like he regressed lyrically....

most of the beats/lyrics/flows sound fire to me.

this is after one listen btw. this joint just came out few days ago its wild how people can be so critical of music and not let it breathe a bit.

This tape grew on me like crazy. First spin I didnt really vibe with it, but i'm on the 4th go around now and i'm loving it.

Didnt give it the whip treatment yet though.

Feeling Crenshaw more off the first listen, but it this **** goes...

And whoever said that up there about the quality was right, the digital version sounds horrible, hopefully he puts this **** on itunes and it sounds better.

S/O to who produced status symbol too, sampled that old school track, Just Another Case by CRU.

And better and complete version of Choke that didn't make the album

I pull up in that black on black, smokin' killa :hat

Like the tape so far on my first spin.

Thats my favorite track on it and I felt like he spit some tough **** on there. He dropped gems. That hooks is fire too. Should of saved that track for Victory Lap

In all I liked Crenshaw more but this is still heat.

Boy does Nipsey love them Benz's & coupes though :lol

nipsey delivered again with this project :Nthat his formula to his music is always appreciated (the drive, hunger, motivation, etc).
