Nipsey Hussle Thread; The Marathon Continues

At first I was thinking that Nip should definitely be big enough to do better than 40K. But the more I think about it, his fanbase definitely isn't as large, even if he does have a lot of followers on social media. Nipsey has a very loyal fanbase, but I definitely wouldn't call it large in comparison to other mainstream rappers. Hell, there's a slew of people who probably know him more for being Lauren London's babydaddy than any of his music. Victory Lap is gonna be a lot of people's first time even listening to dude, foreal. We rock with dude heavy, of course, but that doesn't mean the rest of the world does.

Exactly. I would still consider Nip a niche artist.
When him and Lauren London are posted on BallerAlert or Shaderoom, there's people in the comments asking who he is.

Nip expected to move 40k 1st week
I think it would have been more had there been physical copies

So how’d I get this? >D

This guy has 1.6M followers and every single day had minimum 3 posts about his album. He should've done more than 40k. He was definitely putting in the work to hype it up.

I don't know what the label did behind the scenes tbh.
There also seemed to be several documentaries and videos to promote the album. Currensy would have sold more than 40k if he had Nip’s promotion.

40k is straight
He didn’t do himself any favors with rap ****** as the single, the radio not playing that.

All in all tho the album didn’t disappoint **** the numbers

On this forum it was people saying he gets no radio play. Now it's his album shoulda sold more. Dudes can't have it both ways. He was never a big name in hip hop to expect close to 100k in this era. He has a core in LA and small pockets of fans outside of LA. End of the day the album is great.

I **** with the Migos, that album did great #'s but it came and went already. This Nip album is getting great reviews.

He spent millions on promoting the album.

Where you get this from?

That breakfast club interview was dope. Like the other NTer said nipsey has such interesting interviews because he's dropping knowledge and not just talking about his music only or the latest ******** that he was involved in or whatever. Nipsey is that dude. :smokin

To put **** in perspective, YG only did like 30 something first week with a Drake single and YG def more popular. Nip fanbase really is more regional, because he def get radio play out West.

If he woulda hit the East to do promo last week I think the numbers would be a lil higher, because I see folks who don’t really know much about him, raving about his interviews week.

I meant more accessible hard copies. :rolleyes
You can literally go back a couple pages and see where dudes said this wasn't in their local BB or Target.
Outside of LA & it's surrounding areas, a lot of people couldn't go just cop the album from the store. Swear y'all act slow sometimes.
