No Alcohol August: Challenged Accepted

no alcohol august! I LOVE IT.. august will be a challenge because its full of birthdays and im going clubbing with 3 BEAUTIFUL brazilian chicks who will no doubt pressure me to be drinking.. but whats a challenge without a few roadblocks... I successfully quit fapping for the rest of my life so nowadays I feel like I could start a heroin addiction just to try to quit it.. this is probably the next best thing...

a few things

I go to a bar EVERY DAY! even when i do alcohol abstinence challenges like this... I can't NOT go to a bar.. all my meetings take place in bars.. I do meetups in bars.. im friends with a million bartenders... my main bar doesnt charge me more than 9.00 when I start a tab!! but if I can just drink tea coffee and water i should be fine...except not all bars have coffee and tea and I hate asking them for water all the time..

last time I tried to refrain from drinking I lasted about 3 weeks and binge drank when I failed.. a friend convinced me to eat at this tai place across the street from the bar but he didnt know how wasted i was... I couldnt read the menu so i just asked for the same thing my friend got which was sea food based... and I HATE seafood! everything was soo bland i just shoveled food in my mouth like it was a chore.. this place had huge front windows and I had to puke so I ran outside and started YACKING HAARD in front of the place.. then walked back inside like it was all gravy and told my friend I had to take some important phone call.. he looked at me :x and was like ... dude you just yacked in front of everyone in this restaurant.. the splatter on the windows is still wet!! I look around and everyones kinda giving me looks... then I woke up in my bed! I havent tried to quit drinking ever since but I think its time

I can honestly relate to most of the points in your post.

The truth is the majority of single women in their mid-to-late 20s are looking to go out, party, drink, and dance. Even on recent dates, the women I've taken out have fancied a glass of wine or cocktail with dinner. So best of luck with the Brasilian beauties. I suppose a "cheat day" for that occasion wouldn't be the end of the world given the circumstances.

Also, being close friends with numerous bartenders is the biggest gift and curse simultaneously. You often drink close to free, experiment new alcoholic beverages first and exclusively, and meet a lot of gorgeous female bartenders and hostesses. The problem is when you attempt a challenge such as this one, it requires the will power to reject party invitations and miss out on regular bar nights. There's nothing wrong with ordering a regular soda, juice, or water at a bar, restaurant, or club. I'd just rather stay in if I can help it given my month long pledge to refrain from all alcohol. Better not to prompt further temptation by being in a "dangerous" environment.

Sorry to hear that, man. Wish you a speedy and full recovery.
Temptation: August 3rd. Thinking about having a nice Italian dinner to enjoy the nice weather (heat) in Jersey. The thought of iced water or juice with the meal doesn't quite excite the senses like a nice Silver Oak Cabernet.

Thanks bruh, this is the worst situation I every been in.

Ya'll dudes really have trouble putting down the drink?

Haven't had a drink since 1/20/12 and that was for my birthday. Shouldn't even have touched it then...nothing but a depressant.

I'm just curious if you've ever enjoyed alcohol? The last line of your post makes it seem like you've had some bad experiences with it...
Yes, alcohol is in fact a depressant, but I know I'm not alone when I say that a good night of going out and drinking with friends/family usually gets me feeling anything but depressed. As for the day after, as long as I'm not drinking those $1-3 happy hour special drinks (with terrible quality liquor

a la Barton's vodka etc...) I hardly ever get hungover.
Good luck to you guys! I did this before because I partied a lot in high school and my mom was worried I was becoming an alcoholic because her father was. I knew I wasn't, and wanted to show her my life didn't revolve around drinking. I hit the gym everyday that month except maybe a few days and I got absolutely jacked

However, I'm going out to Adams Morgan in DC tonight with a bunch of friends, and, my ex-gf booked a hotel for us next weekend because she wants to see me (I ain't eem mad) so I will have to sit this one out. I'd miss Richard (Hennessy) too much any way
