NT Book Club Vol. WDYRTD

Check out "The Shock Doctrine"

here is the summary:
At the most chaotic juncture in Iraq’s civil war, a new law is unveiled that would allow Shell and BP to claim the country’s vast oil reserves…. Immediately following September 11, the Bush Administration quietly out-sources the running of the “War on Terror” to Halliburton and Blackwater…. After a tsunami wipes out the coasts of Southeast Asia, the pristine beaches are auctioned off to tourist resorts.... New Orleans’s residents, scattered from Hurricane Katrina, discover that their public housing, hospitals and schools will never be reopened…. These events are examples of “the shock doctrine”: using the public’s disorientation following massive collective shocks – wars, terrorist attacks, or natural disasters -- to achieve control by imposing economic shock therapy. Sometimes, when the first two shocks don’t succeed in wiping out resistance, a third shock is employed: the electrode in the prison cell or the Taser gun on the streets.

just finished The Girl on the Train

really liked it, would recommend for anyone into thrillers

read Who Moved My Cheese last night

Highly recommend it. Short and easy read. Great for those who struggle with adapting to change and are paralyzed by fear.

I don't read motivational books until i do research on the author.. I like to make sure they're really entrepreneurs in a business sense instead of just writers with a very good awareness.. Do You guys ever think about that? So many motivational books out there, but which ones hold true? I know every individual has a different perspective but some are just heavier than others..

4 hour work week was just finished.

The author comes off as kind of a douche but the book had some insightful tips

Enjoyed Armada :smokin

This Southern Reach trilogy doesn't make sense and I don't care. The writing is brilliant. Read it without caring about anything.

I also finished John Green's work. He loves writing about teenagers and does it very well.

Keep on keeping on :hat

Just sped through Stephen King's Carrie in two days--much better than any of the movie adaptations, and a very depressing read all around. :(

Currently reading Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, supposedly considered the Great American Novel. Most authors cite it as one of their favorites of all time.

Started this before September 11 and just finishing. Great story about the company that lost everyone at the top of the North Tower. It brings it home with how personal and gruesome the whole thing was that day and how minor life choices were either the difference between someone being out of the way of the plane and dying.

The worst was a guy who normally sent his secretary down to the lobby to get guests, but chose to do it himself since she was on a call and 7 months pregnant.

Would love a review of this when you're finished. Graham is on Joe Rogan's podcast today to talking about this book...I really enjoyed his War God books but never read Fingerprints of the Gods

gotchu, brotha.

I loved the two War God novels that have dropped, and I read about 80% of Fingerprint of the Gods, but never finished it..

I'm 100 pages in on the new one though, and I love it.

I'll be back once I'm done.

is the Rogan podcast today? I know Hancock and Randal Carlson will be on Rogan together, but I thought it wasn't until the 18th. I'm actually at the part in the book which features Carlson and his work, so I'm geeked for the interview.

Just finished this, as well. Really enjoyed it. Reading my homegirl's romance novel; not my style, but wanted to support. Next up is All the President's Men.
