Which external hard drives are you guys using? I copped a 1TB Western Digital My Book Elite, but so far this thing seems like it will be a headache so I'll probably be returning it. It randomly disappears from my desktop, it has an adapter so its sort of a hassle to carry around, it won't update even though I downloaded and installed the drivers 4 times, and every time I plug it acts as if it is the first time I'm plugging it into my computer for the first time. I'm looking to spend $120 and under, what would you recommend?

What Operating system are you using? I always go with Iomega hardrives, very durable and made out of steel casing. If you don't like the adapter go with a portable hardrive all you need is the usb and your ready to go.

e-sata or firewire 800 if possible for connection. can't do USB anymore, takes forever to transfer stuff.

lacie, seagate or WD for brand.

Anyone know if I can buy an internal hard-drive and use it externally?

instead of installing it just move it and connect via esata

yea u just need to get an esata capable enclosure for it...

it just screws into the case and u connect it inside then it has connectors on the outside for whatever u want (esata, usb, firewire)

is there a reason you want to do this? it'll probably run you around the same price buying an external HD as it would buying an internal + enclosure. unless you found a deal on both.
