Is the spread just the spread, and not the pitcher?

On my book it's "St. louis: Carpenter -1.5" The pitcher is just there for informational purposes right?

i think that lions d line gives him problems and he struggles this week...i couldnt believe how bad it looked last week but trust i was pumped when they pulled it off cause i cashed

Tebow in Denver a much different player than road Tebow, that game vs SD showed it. Stafford looks like he may play, nut who know how bad the ankle really is.
Suh will definitely get at Tebow but Tebow will have to extend the plays.
