NT: Sportsbook Thread

Ya'll play too much. Betting sports is not about having 10 picks a night or even 5.

Its about betting on 1 or 2 spots. That's it.

You will lose money in the long run playing that donkey stuff 'talkembout' 12 picks in 2 days. Dummies.

I plan on not living and dying by this system, but I def will be following some of the plays.

MLB Betting Strategy

Just a heads up:

Based on this strategy (although RPI #'s aren't out yet), we want to bet on Houston against San Fran May 14-16.

any picks for baseball the rest of the day?

missed yesterdays and the two you had today...

i was thinking mariners for 3:30

been awhile since i peeked into this thread, or NT for that matter.

Baseball been real good for me so far. Its always easy to talk a big game after the fact, but this is probably the best run to start a season I have ever gone on. 5-0 thus far. Hell I hardly ever go 2-0.

UFC 112 is right around the corner fellas. The lines have been hoppin considerably, so hopefully some of you saavy MMA bettors got in earlier. Hopefully A Silva and BJ dont lose cause I have most of my parlays going through them. Here are my pending plays so far.

The bets were placed at different times, thus the different odds booked.

My quick analysis of potential value.

Mark Munoz I felt had the best value but it looks like a lot of early bettors have hit that line and pushed it up a bit. It touched -175 earlier today but seems to have settled back at the -170 range. At -150 I really think it was a good bet. The line literally jumped from -140 to -150 when I was bookin that bet last week. I loved it at -140, I like it at -150, I think its OK at best at -170. If any of you guys can get Munoz at -150 range I would recommend that play. Munoz should be able to take Grove down at will with his superior wrestling. Since Munoz has been at Team Blackhouse (Nog brothers, A Silva, Machida) I think that his sub defense had to have gotten better. I'm hoping and counting on Munoz taking this fight to the ground, unleashing some vicious ground and pound while avoiding the sub, and either finishing the fight via GnP or riding it out to a Unanimous Decision.

I've been debating the Dos Anjos v. Etim figth with my betting partner for awhile now and we cant seem to come to an agreement. I'm not sold on Etim's standup, and I think Dos Anjos' BJJ is good enough to cancel out Etim. What I am counting on here is Dos Anjos' better wrestling, and ability to get the TD and take top position and ride it to a decision victory. This is pretty much a pickem fight (in my opinion) and if youre getting some odds (+120 for me) there is enough to make a small play.

For you greedy degens out there, some people are liking Mustapha Al Turk for a small play. I honestly dont know much about Madsen except that he is somewhat of an undersized HW. I dont know if he warrants a -300 line though. Madsen will probably win, but who knows... anything can happen.

2-0 today (Bronson Arroyo is money his first start of the year). 8-6 overall (57%). For tomorrow:

St. Louis vs. Milwaukee (Over 9.5)
Boston vs. KC (BOS -155)
Cubs vs. Cincinnati (CIN -135)

3 Team Parlay

4/9/10 8:05pm NBA Basketball 713 Chicago Bulls -5½ -110* vs New Jersey Nets
4/9/10 8:05pm NBA Basketball 718 Oklahoma City Thunder -3½ -110* vs Phoenix Suns
4/9/10 8:10pm MLB Baseball 925 Boston Red Sox -1½ +105* vs Kansas City Royals

Any seasoned baseball bettors want to give a newbie some tips and strategies?

My strategy this season has been to stay away from run lines and only play moneylines. I also look for top line pitchers going against suspect lineups. Opening day, I jumped all over what I thought was a gift of a moneyline when Roy Halladay was -200 against the Nationals.

What else should I be looking for?

Not a good start.

About the MLB betting system:

Does anyone know if it still works in this situation? (assuming the RPI criteria is met):

Teams A and B play a 4 game series. Team A loses the 1st game of the series but then goes on to win the next 3 in a row. Next time these teams play a series is it safe to follow the system and bet on Team B?

So you're betting on the Mariners eh? Me too. We'll find out.

I was at 10-11 (48%) going into tonight and I felt like I was getting a good feel on the season. Depsite the poor record, it was mainly just to get a feel. So, now I dropped more $ and put in more bets (this is the point in the season where I wanted to start originally).

So for today my picks were:

Mets vs. Colorado (COL -143)
Oakland vs. Seattle (SEA +1.5)
Pittsburgh vs. San Francisco (SF -195)

Arizona vs. Dodgers (LAD -166) - WON
Tampa Bay vs. Baltimore (BAL +116) - LOSS

Looking like 3-2 on the day and 13-13 overall. Tomorrow I get heavy:

Kansas City vs. Detroit (DET -175)
Boston vs. Minnesota (MIN +115)
Tampa Bay vs. Baltimore (Over 9)
Milwaukee vs. Cubs (CHC - 145)
Washington vs. Philadelphia (-240)
White Sox vs. Toronto (Over 8.5)
Cincinnati vs. Florida (FLA -125)
Oakland vs. Seattle (SEA -105)
Atlanta vs. San Diego (ATL - 145)

Paul, what site do you use? Only reason I ask if because I use Bodog and the O/U's don't come out as early as you put em up.

Has anyone done well with this system? I'm thinking about trying it out.

Sportsbook.com It's pretty good at coming out with the money line and O/U's fairly early.
