I think the random SNKRS drop initiated this by allowing many "average joes" to cop, instead of reseller's bots. These resellers typically buy up a large % of the stock and keep prices high.

What happened this time around were a lot of the "average joes" seeming to cash in for a quick buck, undercutting each other like crazy.

It also appears that this release isn't as limited as the other two colorways. Basic supply and demand.
