HOUSTON - The Houston Rockets have agreed to sign guard/forward James White for the rest of this year and for the 2009-2010 season.

"He will sign the contract (Monday) and the deal includes next year as well," said Bill McCandless, White's agent.

The club had signed White to a pair of 10-day contracts. The second was to expire Tuesday.

He has played in one game so for Houston scoring five points with one steal and one blocked shot.

"This is a testament that hard work eventually pays off and James White has worked very hard," said Bill McCandless, White's agent.

"There were those who believed James might not be able to play in the NBA but he has really paid his dues which included playing a year in Europe."

McCandeless said White was able to show the Rockets what he is all about.

"It was a given James is a world-class athlete and the Rockets were really sold on all his all-around game and they believe, with some work, he can be aguy who can be in their rotation."

The Rockets signed White out of the NBA D-league where he was averaging 25.9 points for Anaheim.

"James decided in the D-league to use his athleticism and go to the basket instead of settling for the jumper which has been critical to hisdevelopment," McCandless said.

Prior to that White played in seven games, starting two, for the San Antonio Spurs during the 2006-2007 season. During that stint White averaged 8.3 points agame.

I thought we had one already?

we need to avoid the Jazz at all cost. We need the 2/3 seed and they need to jump up to 4/5 seed. we just can beat them for some reason

I'd love to face either Portland, Denver, or N.O. in the first round.
But the the reason we can't seem to beat the jazz is because:
- Deron Williams always seems to kill us
- Yao doesn't match up well with Utah's bigs at all. He's forced to move away from the basket and contest Boozer's or Okur's jumpshots.
And they can get around Yao and take it to the hole. It's just a bad match up. Although Yao should dominate on the offensive end.

As for tonight's game we have to contain Deron and Boozer. It's the only possible way to win.

waiting to see the white ronron(matt harpring) and ron battle it out.. go rockets. cant stand utah.

Nice. Been waiting for a Rockets thread too. Should be a good game tonight!

Wow, White got signed through next year too... Dunk contest. Sike.

I hope the Rockets can stay with the number two seed and utah gets the 3rd or we get second and yall get 3rd so we can play you second round, then it will beinto the west finals

im just playing, but for real I thought you guys would tank hard without McGrady, but Ron is stepping up waaay more than i thought he would.

The Jazz HAVE to win this game, we need every home win since we have like every game on the raod against west powers from here on out.

When Lowry and Von Wafer in the game in the 3rd everytime they touched the ball they ran straight to the hoop and either got blocked, missed the layup, orturned it over for like 5 mins.

Yea that was frustrating, and all those wasted offensive rebounds

We just played like crap last night. We were in the game but like always the third quarter is crucial and we lost it there.
Von and lowry were being aggressive and taking it to the hole, I can't blame them for that but make the damn the lay-up or
slow it down and get a good shot. I still feel Yao didn't get enough touches and Ron jacks up TOO many shots
he went 5-22

. But we're still in third place at the moment.

Games like this against the Jazz clearly show how important a healthy T-Mac is for the Rockets. I just think T-Mac is clearly a better decision maker thanArtest and when T-Mac dumps the ball to Yao in the post and the double team comes in, T-Mac is better at making a play when he gets the ball back from Yaorather than Artest. Artest would probably just shoot another 3... In the end of the 4th when you don't run team plays anymore but you go to your NBA isoyour star play, this is when you need a healthy T-Mac. No one else on the Rockets can really fill that void. Von Wafer's aggressive slashing is good andclose, but he goes way too fast and his decision and passing skills aren't as good as T-Mac's. He will need more experience.

In conclusion, put James White in and let him dunk on someone... Haha.
