Official 10' NFL Offseason Thread: CIN sign T.O. 1yr/2m

Source: Safety Sharper making visit

Nearly two months after the NFL's free-agent signing period kicked off, New Orleans' Pro Bowl safety Darren Sharper is taking his first visit this offseason.

Sharper

Sharper is scheduled to visit the Jacksonville Jaguars on Wednesday, according to a league source. Jacksonville did not draft a safety last weekend, and Sharper is searching for another opportunity aside from the one he already has in New Orleans.

If Jacksonville fails to sign him, don't be surprised if Dallas does.

The Cowboys also did not draft a safety last weekend and they released Ken Hamlin before the draft. Dallas is known to be eyeing Sharper.

The Cowboys would like to weaken the defending Super Bowl champion Saints while strengthening themselves.

Sharper, who intercepted nine passes last season, turns 35 in November and he underwent knee surgery this offseason. But he is expected to be ready in time for training camp.

Sharper sat out two regular-season games last season and missed periodic practices because of knee swelling. Still, he tied for the league lead with his nine interceptions -- returning three for scores.

Sharper has said he's hoping to return to New Orleans, but is keeping his options open.

someone just tweeted to me saying Ryan Clady has been injured....

arguably the best LT in the game right now. it better not be major!

I have no idea how to do links from my blackberry but i'll type it out

"Two NFL sources say Broncos LT Ryan Clady has suffered a non football related injury to the patella tendon in one of his knees. the severity is not yet known"

YIKES!~

From NBC Sports:

Two NFL sources tell the Denver Post that Broncos LT Ryan Clady has injured his patellar tendon in a non-football-related incident.

According to the Post, "it could be serious." A late-April patellar tendon tear would jeopardize Clady's availability for Week 1, though the exact severity is unknown at this time. Denver's top backup at left tackle is presumably usual starting right tackle Ryan Clady, who is also less than 100% due to toe surgery. The Broncos did draft Utah left tackle Zane Beadles in the second round, though his best NFL position is at guard or right tackle.

http://
Cowboys Draft Board Potentially Exposed
"Blogging the Boys", the Dallas Cowboys' portal on the SBNation network, posted a screen capture of the Dallas Cowboys' draft room, which offers some insight into where the Cowboys ranked certain players.

The author, "JBell5323", deduces that the columns represent the round the Cowboys graded each player, as they've written down where each of those of players were taken, and by whom. Interesting stuff, if you're into that sort of thing.

Some observations, provided this truly reflects the Cowboys' draft board:

- The Cowboys appear to have had Gerald McCoy rated ahead of Ndamukong Suh, and Russell Okung ahead of Trent Williams.
- Dallas had a first-round grade on Cal defensive tackle Tyson Alualu and running back Jahvid Best, as well as on San Francisco 49ers linebacker Navorro Bowman (Penn State).
- Rutgers offensive tackle Anthony Davis had a third-round grade. (He went 11th overall to SF)
- Michigan defensive end Brandon Graham had a second-round grade, as did fellow first-rounders Jerry Hughes, Kareem Jackson, Ryan Mathews, Devin McCourty, Demaryius Thomas, and Dan Williams.
- Jimmy Clausen and Taylor Mays had a second-round grade, while Colt McCoy had a third-round grade, as did Notre Dame wide receiver Golden Tate, and Mike Kafka was pegged for the 7th round.
- UMASS guard Vladimir Ducasse, who went to the Jets in the second round, had a fourth-round grade on the Cowboys' board.
- The names next to Denver and Miami's placards are obscured by Jones' left arm, but presumably one of them reads "Dez Bryant", who the Cowboys traded up to select with the 24th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Oh wow...

I never really took notice or enjoyed offensive line play until I started paying attention to Clady his rookie season.
arguably the best LT in the game right now.
At age 23...

I don't like Darren Sharper, but I can put that aside, for the lone reason that the alternate right now stands to be Alan Ball.

And didn't the Cowboys' draft board "leak" last year, too?
Source: Ryan Clady tore patellar tendon playing basketball
Posted by Mike Florio on April 28, 2010 4:43 PM ET

The unbridled enthusiasm coming from Denver in the wake of the Thomas-Tebow round-one haul has hit a relatively major snag.

As Mike Klis of the Denver Post reported earlier today, tackle Ryan Clady suffered a potentially serious knee injury while doing something unrelated to football.  Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the injury is believed to be a torn patellar tendon.  The source says the injury occurred while Clady was playing basketball.

If that's the case, Clady likely will miss all of the 2010 season.  A first-round pick in 2008, Clady has started all 32 regular-season games of his career, and he was named to the Pro Bowl and the Associated Press All-Pro team after the 2009 season.

Also, if anyone is interested in signing Flozell Adams, it may be a good idea to get a deal done before the Broncos make a play for him.

I'm gonna add this to the 1st page also

Most teams have assigned jersey numbers to the rookies. Eric Berry, Earl Thomas, and Nate Allen are all gonna rock #29

Also, I didn't know that LBs are allowed to wear numbers in the 40s now

**Edit** LBs can wear 40-49 during training camp due to there being so many guys on the team but they can't wear it if they make the final roster
Report: Ryan Clady avoided full patellar tendon tear
Posted by Mike Florio on April 28, 2010 6:16 PM ET

Well, there's some good news for the Broncos and, more specifically, left tackle Ryan Clady.  Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that Clady suffered only a partial tear of the patellar tendon in his knee.

Per Klis, the tendon was only 50 percent torn.  As a result, Clady is expected to miss three months, and to be able to suit up and play in four.

The team reportedly is "hopeful" that Clady will be available for the September 12 opener in Jacksonville.

The rehab process already has commenced.  Klis reports that Clady had surgery on Tuesday.  The injury occurred over the weekend.
