Going into the playoffs hot

I hope we wear blk shoes/socks for the playoffs like we did in the old days.

I had to screen shot the current title of this thread.

so deandre jordan is a free agent do we go after him or no? in order to even have a chance we have to give up chauncey and waive him... and also this would take away money for a third max so no cp3 or derron...im leaning towards yes and go get him just because we don't have a big man... and i think with him he makes a huge difference to this team..i don't know who our point would be though... i like douglas but as a starter not so sure... still need a backup anyway

THE HUNK OF PLAY-DOH
15. New York Knicks
When I caught them in person Wednesday night, they played Anthony Carter, Shelden Williams and Jared Jeffries extended minutes. Let's just fold the D-League. If we can't come up with three D-Leaguers better than that, we need to start over.

Anyway, I stand by my stance when the Melo trade happened: You always trade coins for paper in the NBA. Besides, the Knicks had already made their panic move, spending $100 million on someone whose knees cannot be insured. He may as well have Charlie Sheen and Andy **** as his left and right kneecaps. That was an "all-in" contract. They couldn't wait two or three years for young players to develop. They couldn't cross their fingers that a 2012 free agent will be there. They were on borrowed time. Even if nothing else about their roster makes sense right now (including the suddenly overmatched coach), a year from now, it might. When you have two stars, it's always easier to get a third. Right, KG, Paul and Ray?

Speaking of contracts, the league's biggest CBA priorities need to be (A) shortening contracts to four years or less, and (B) discouraging teams from overpaying middle-class players with a hard cap, a semi-hard cap, a conditionally hard cap, a flaccid cap or whatever other cap makes you think of a Cialis commercial. In Hollywood, you don't pay "character actors" like Mike Miller or Travis Outlaw $30-35 million to appear in your next five movies. Why? Because it's bad business!!! Because it would be irresponsible! We're headed toward a lockout because NBA "character actors" should be paid like what they are -- character actors -- and because the dopey owners need to be saved from themselves. It's a broken system. Luke Walton and Ron Artest should not be making half as much combined as Kobe Bryant. Brandon Bass, J.J. Redick and Chris Duhon should not be making as much combined as Dwight Howard. If NBA owners ran Hollywood, the creepy uncle from "Winter's Bone" would be enjoying Year 1 of a six-year, $58 million movie deal. Hearing them %%*+# about "lost revenue" is like hearing Brad and Angelina %%*+# about future college expenses for their kids. Shut up already.

Back next Friday with the Final Fourteen: Pretenders, Contenders and an MVP pick.

I know I'm going to get flamed for saying it, but I think we need to look at Greg Oden over the summer.

It's beyond a risk, but we have made all in moves.  Size comes at a premium in this league and he can be had for a decent price.  Look at the bulls thios year, they win cause they control the paint, something Oden would allow us to do.  When he has played he has been the second best Defensive center next to Dwight.  I think he would be at least worth bringing in for a workout cause if the guy is healthy, he is the one free agent this summer that could make us contenders right away.

Melo looked like a WNBA player with braids. Just saying.

And this is absolutely ridiculous. Didn't see the game. Was he just running away from errant balls all night? How out of your way do you have to go to not outrebound Jordan !$@@@*# Farmar when you're a 7 foot tall center?

and FWIW him coming back and playing well would be a great story

our offseason board should look like

1. Jordan or Oden
2. Draft or trade for PG
3. A REAL SG (Landry should come off the bench)

Haven't watched barley any college games this year. Who's a draftable point guard for the Knicks?

they played Anthony Carter, Shelden Williams and Jared Jeffries extended minutes. Let's just fold the D-League. If we can't come up with three D-Leaguers better than that, we need to start over.
I never understood the hate on Anthony Carter. He's not great, but he doesn't play beyond his means. Sheldon Williams looks like a blaxploitation Hills Have Eyes character, but he's been fine lately.

I say we cut Chauncey and go after both Oden and Jordan. Having just one of them really doesn't help us all that much when the first big man off our bench plays worse than his wife (although he has been solid).

PG's gonna be rough, I just hope Brandon Knight falls to us.

Oden isn't that crazy. Is it any more crazy than committing 40+ million to two high volume scorers who don't play great D?

If Portland doesn't give him his qualifying offer and he becomes unrestricted, then I say screw it... give him an offer and take the chance. It's a very high risk move, but when you pay a premium for centers in this league, sometimes you have to take a chance and get lucky.

gotta give chauncey his option. we can't cut him on just a maybe of signing another player

either way douglas has become much better since the trade. I have to believe that billups and carter have helped him out. He had no real guidance before that

Clippers can match any offer.  It'll hurt us to offer him something big and the Clips don't match.  Same with Gasol.  As much as both of them would be good on the team.  Center should be either be a focal point in the draft or a one year flyer in the offseason.  We shouldn't give out any multi-year deals this summer.

I agree with Proshares on this one. Signing a center to a multi-year deal is just counter productive for us at this point. We really need to figure out what we're going to do with the PG spot and maybe find a rentee for the next season and then when 2012 rolls around see what happens. I'd rather at least give us a chance to get someone from the 2012 free agent class then just take ourselves out before the game even starts. If we strike out, we strike out. No big deal. We'll still find some players to compliment Melo and STAT.

I have a lot of faith in the Knicks and especially in our future. Just as long as Donnie runs this team, I think we'll be fine.

I think Dalembert would be a decent fit. TBH, we can survive with Chauncey and TD at PG for another year. Center is a much greater need IMO.

has anyone been able to find this hat?
I called the NEW ERA store but the girl on the phone told me they would get it at the end of this month?

Oden is gonna get 6+ mil just based on potential and show any sign of health

For around that price I would take Humpries. At least with him I know we won't get out rebounded most nights plus he can score

Dalembert averaged 8 points and 8 rebounds this year in 23 minutes

If he Can Give us 9-10 points, 9-10 rebounds and lets say a block in 35-38 minutes next year we can do some damage.
