yea tell me about it...

they have to start winning games... get their confidence up!

Every time Jake Peavy pitches against the Dodgers, I just know we will lose.

I don't remember the last time Dodgers knocked him out of the game.

Anyway, after looking at those predictions, only one person picked the Padres to even make the playoffs. Everyone else either has the Dodgers or theD'Backs coming out of the NL West.

What's up with D'Backs fans still having a bunch of tickets still available in last year's NLCS...?

SAN DIEGO -- Padres manager Bud Black defended Jake Peavy on Sunday, saying a darksubstance on his right hand after a game against the Dodgers on Saturday was just a mix of dirt and rosin.

Peavy

The sports Web site, www.thebiglead.com, posted images Sunday it said were sent by a reader after Peavy tossed a two-hitter in a 4-1 win over Los Angeles. The images, purportedly still frame shots from a TV broadcast of the game, show a dark substance on Peavy's right thumb, index and middle fingers.

"When you play baseball, your hands get dirty," Black said Sunday. "He had dirty hands. Trying to keep his palms and fingers dry, you applyrosin and dirt. Rosin is a sticky substance, and as often as he goes to the rosin bag, as often as he goes to the dirt to sop up moisture, your hands getdirty.

"I don't think there is anything to it. Modern cameras can pick up a dirty hand."

Peavy (2-0) has allowed just one run in 16 innings over two starts this year. The right-hander won the NL Cy Young Award last season.

"There's nothing on my hands that's not supposed to be," Peavy told the San Diego Union-Tribune for a blog entry on its Web site. "Ithought it was funny that it was such a big deal. I've got no problems with anytime anybody needs to check me."

^^ I was wondering what the heck Peavy had in his hand, when he went to shake his catcher's hand.

I hope he wasn't cheating, cuz it looked like pine tar

Just peep the avy. You know what's up.

But back on topic, Padres are killing me with having Trevor still close. He's losing it. Another blown save today.

Padres need to go from Hells Bells to Heath Bell.

And for some reason, I'm pretty scared of the Dodgers this season.

Hoffman's situation isnt going to get easier... he's going to continue to struggle and then its going to get ugly.

You dont demote someone like Hoffman, yet hes going to keep blowing huge games in the ninth... What to do Buddy black

There's two Diamondbacks fans!

I hope the Big Unit can come back healthy and do well for us.

The Arizona Diamondbacks made another big move to lock up young talent on Monday.

The team and Chris Young agreed on a six-year contract extension that will run through at least 2013.

"It doesn't change anything," Young said, according to MLB.com. "I'm still going to go out there and play ball. I'm still going togo out there and everything is going to be the same no matter if I had a contract or I was a guy just trying to stay on the team. I'm going to play thesame way."

The contract is near the six-year, $31 million extension shortstop Troy Tulowitzki signed with the Colorado Rockies on Jan. 23, according to multiple mediaoutlets. Young's contract buys out all of his arbitration years and includes a team option on a year of free agency.

The D-backs worked with Young on a new deal in spring training, but when the sides couldn't reach a long-term deal, the team renewed him for around$400,000. The team is expected to formally announce the new contract on Tuesday.

The Diamondbacks have already locked up several of their young players, including starters Brandon Webb and Dan Haren, outfielder Eric Byrnes and catcher ChrisSnyder, who are all under contract through 2010.

New deal in hand, Young homered and went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in a 9-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night.

The dynamic 24-year-old outfielder came to the Diamondbacks in December 2005 as part of the trade that sent right-hander Javier Vazquez to the Chicago WhiteSox. Arizona also acquired right-handers Orlando Hernandez and Luis Vizcaino in the deal.

After spending most of 2006 with Triple-A Tucson, Young had one of the best rookie seasons in the Diamondbacks' 10-year history.

Mostly batting leadoff last year, he established rookie franchise highs in homers (32), runs (85), steals (27), doubles (29), slugging percentage (.467) andextra-base hits (64).

Young was the first rookie in major league history with at least 30 homers and 25 stolen bases. Only one other rookie, Nomar Garciaparra in 1997, had 30 homersand at least 20 stolen bases.

Young's nine leadoff homers led the majors.

His batting average, though, was just .237, a figure that manager Bob Melvin expects to rise considerably this year.

Young was a 16th-round pick of the White Sox in the 2001 amateur draft out of Bellaire High School in Houston.

CY is nuts out there in CF.

Reynolds 2 hrs tonight, 4 total by the dbacks....9-3 over LA

Bein a Dodger fan, I'm pretty scared of the Snakes this year. All their young players look like gamers. As for my team, Andruw gets fatter each at bat.Sad.

Did you see how that shot by Chris Young in the first inning just get right by Jones?

I know he's gotten 10 straight gold gloves, but damn, dude is looking chubby. That will always catch up to you.

D'Backs are crazy good, It's gonna definitely go down to the wire to win that NL West.

unfortunately i kind of agree with french blue......the dodgers pitching and andrew jones need to step it up...the young guys will follow

But it's gotta happen.
Dude is falling off bad. I know it's still early in the season, but Hoffy ended the season on a sour note and isstarting where he ended.

Bud Black, it's time to go with Heath.
