L.A. Times reporter Andrew Blankstein reported last month that a man was stabbed multiple times during the Dodgers home opener against the San Francisco Giants. Blankstein followed up today with a report that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the assault.

This is not the first time that violence has been committed at the stadium. Back
in 2003, a West Covina man leaving the stadium got into an argument with a group of men, which resulted in his death by shooting.

Right after the recent stabbing, our readers expressed concern about attending Dodgers games at Chavez Ravine.

"I have to say, the games have gotten worse. All these people do is ruin it for the true fans. We go and spend good money and the last thing that I want is: having to worry about my kids having things thrown at them. I had to tell my 4 year old, that the fool next to me was yelling, "dirty socks", rather then "Giant Suck". There needs to be a no tolerance rule with all of this fools who think, getting drunk and going to a public place is cool." - Rafa http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/comments_blog/

Dodger Stadium can bring chaotic fans, but that can happen anywhere in LA. People get unruly and they fight. Only COWARDS pull out knives and guns. What happened to fighting one on one and whoever wins, wins! That's it. - Ginahttp://latimesblogs.latimes.com/comments_blog/

Time to bring back those middle aged ushers with straw hats to kick butt and take names. - dodger tony

"I have been going to Dodger games since I was 3 months old (I am now 27) and have never had a problem or see a fight go down. Granted I am "white" and not a "hooligan", "latino", or "gangbanger". I cannot believe the rude, racist and presumptuous comments on here. It doesn't matter what you look like, it matters if you are an angry idiot. There really needs to be a better security detail and maybe a stricter policy on beer.......I will continue to go to Dodger Stadium. I love my Dodgers!" - stephanie

The question is, do incidents such as these come into play when you decide whether to attend a game at Dodger Stadium?

bottom of page ftl.

anyway i dont worry so much about it but it does bother me because you can see some people get uncomfortable due to a certain crowd at the games. and is hasgotten exponentially worse over the past few years. im not really sure why though.

edit - it only seems to go down in the pavillion and reserve level seats though. i usually sit in the reserve cause im not ballin and it has gotten really badthere.

same here dude, I'm stuck to my mini plan so until next season i'll have to put up with all of the pendejos in section 26...

I'm already saving up loot for 2010 season tickets, infield reserve is the worst case scenario...

Tonight's lineup:

Furcal, SS
Hudson, 2B
Ramirez, LF
Ethier, RF
Loney, 1B
Martin, C
Kemp, CF
Blake, 3B
Stults, LHP

That article is 100% spot on.

I know Beer = $$ but there has to be a limit in the Reserves and Pavilions.
I know it sound prejudice, racists or whatever, but it gets out of hand.

I've never been so uncomfortable around my own kind/people, than I am when I'm sitting in the Reserve section.
It's great if I'm alone, but I always go with family or my girl, and it's uncomfortable watching a game when you are also been cautious of yoursurroundings.

I'm not a baller, but I rather spend the $$ to sit in the Field Boxes/MVP/VIP.

Most of these gangbangers/cholos don't even know the entire starting lineup.

It is truly sad that a small number of people ruin it for everybody.

Unfortunately, they are "my people",
smh.gif
.

It feels like I'm always apologizing for their behavior with the "We're not all like that response".

I was talking about this with someone else and it is hard to come up with a solution. We have people that work security detail at Staples and at DodgerStadium, they say the crowd is like night and day.

A simple solution would be to price out all the troublemakers, however, that would cut out a lot of low income folks that are not the problem. Thesetroublemakers don't care about getting kicked out since they only paid $10 for that Reserve/Top Deck/Pavilion seat. Staples doesn't have that issuebecause no one cares about the Clippers or the Kings, and who wants to get kicked out of a Laker game when they dropped a days salary for a ticket (Good Luckfinding those $10 Laker tickets
laugh.gif
).

Dudes say they get an incident at Staples every other game as opposed to numerous incidents per game at the Ravine. Frankly, a lot of trash attend thesegames. When I was younger, I didn't care where I sat, in fact, I preferred the Pavilions. As I get older, I would rather pay $25+ and get a Loge or Fieldseat.

This homestand they are cracking down on drinking in the parking lot. Previously, there was a policy, but now they took a zero tolerance policy. Sure, theparking lot is huge and they can't get to everyone but if they catch you, they make you empty out your cooler.
smokin.gif
.

I'm a huge dodger fan. I have pictures of myself as an infant drinking out of a looney tunes dodger bottle, and I wanted to be Mike Piazzas replacement as a career when I was just breaking into elementary school. I will admit, going to the games in my High School years not too long ago I thought these fights and concessions food tossing was hilarious, i'd look forward to witnessing them.

But all of that has changed oh so much as i've matured and realized that all of that is wrong. I now stay as far as possible from the pavilion seating as my money will take me. The price for a seat in the bleachers cannot be beat, but at what price exactly? I purchased 2 mini plan seats in the outer reserve down the first base line and that's not much of an upgrade. I don't even feel as comfortable as I should, seeing all of these drunks out there, all of these grown adults lunging for a beachball, cursing up a storm when the wave dies, it's a sad sight.

I tell my girlfriend that last season I attended many more Halos games than I did at the ravine due to my friends being fans, and although I dislike the team, I envy their fanbase. THOSE fans sit and, get this, WATCH THE GAME! Insane concept right? TRUST ME, IT WORKS! AND it's fun! I see tons of families out there at the big A, enjoying the game on the field and not so much worried about booing opposing team fans in the stands. THAT'S HOW IT SHOULD BE.

In closing i'll leave with my personal thought. I LOVE my dodgers, I LOVE our cathedral at Chavez Ravine....but I HATE our fanbase. Lets get those angels fans to drive up north and enjoy a game with us, McCourt start plastering our guys all over OC billboards and maybe we can get some people who actually want to watch the product on the field, and not worry about the 99 cent beachballs floating all around.

This guy couldn't have said it better, our fanbase just stinks. Except for theHalo's comment, this dude is on point.

Same reason why most of the time I prefer staying home and watching the game at my house, HD + Vin.. can't go wrong. I love going to Dodger Stadium butputting up with some of the stupidity that goes on out there (pavilions + reserve) makes it hard to make it out to games because I try to stay out of thoseareas of the park.

Tickets prices > $25 x 2, parking, food and beverages to go out there limits the times I make it out per year. Although I'd rather spend that much andgo 5 times a year and watch the game in Loge. or better, than be out there 15 times and sit in the Reserve. Not because of the seats but because of themajority of the people.
