***Official 2009 N.L. Central Thread*** Congrats to the Cardinals***

Well, it is becoming clear that something must be done about the bullpen. I really did not see the season unfolding like this. Hopefully something can get puttogether that will deliver some bullpen help before the trade deadline. If the Cubs head into the second half of the season with this pen there is no way theywill contend. Heck, if Ramirez doesnt get back and Milton Bradley doesnt get his head out of his butt and Soto doesnt remember how to hit and we dont startaveraging more than 3 runs over the last 19 games then we wont see the postseason.
Ah, I remember the good ol days when the Cubs looked like they should win the thing the whole year long and then exploded, like W4L would after an FB StoneCold Stunner, in the playoffs.... I miss those days. Hopefully they can get it turned around, the White Sox were on the edge of despair a couple weeks ago andnow they have won 10 of the last 14. If the Cubs can go on a rip like that they could probably launch into first place. Ah well, We shall see.

Bullpen went like 15 scoreless innings before tonight's debacle. Marmol was terrible, and our defense didn't help. Atlanta capitalized on every singlemistake from the 8th inning on.

Wake me when its 2010......and Bradley is injured again. I mean, it all started when we traded Woody and DeRo.

Hendry has caused us more bad than good. I hope when the new owners do their evaluation, they fire Hendry and Crane and the rest of the washed up management. And get rid of that former GM or ours Ed Lynch. You know that he's still in the Cubs' *** payroll? Christ....

we need to get healthy.

Sidenote: Yonder Alonso moved up to AA. Good to see he's getting closer to the big leagues already. Who knows, we may need him.

He signed a 2 million dollar bonus. I would hope he can help you guys at some point. From what I understand he is not really a gold glover but hassome pretty serious power.

Fun fact: The Pirates have scored a combined four runs in Zach Duke's four losses.

One of the starts happened to be Duke's lone bad performance of the season (6 runs on 12 hits in 6 innings), but the other three, he gave up a combinedseven runs.

He could very well be 9-1 right now.

He's pitched the most innings in the National League (third most in baseball), and has the 7th best ERA (11th in baseball) and the 8th best WHIP (13th inbaseball).

Well at least with Milton being out I get to see my main man Reed Johnson running around out there making ridiculous catches. maybe he will provide a littlespark to this cold looking team. I feel SOOOO bad for Randy Wells.

Jay Bruce will be batting under .200 within the next week. He is completely lost at the plate, completely lost.

They are definitely my National League team of choice, but I mostly just keep an eye on Zach, Nate and Doumit.
Hey, we need all the support we can get... and you picked a decent time to be a fan, we actually have a handful of talented players right now. Wejust need one more handful to be legitimate contenders in the central.

Sorry, my Pirates support just decreased exponentially.

A Major League source had confirmed that the Pirates will send McLouth to the Braves. In exchange they will receive left-handed pitcher Jeff Locke and outfielder Gorkys Hernandez. Right-handed pitcher Charlie Morton might also be involved in the deal.
