I am skeptic until they can start doing it consistently

The Cubs' offense needs to wake the %$$# up and score some damn runs. We cannot lose to Houston again.....

I'm glad that Demp won't take a loss but we must really love extra innings or something unless we just give the Astros a run in the bottom of the 9th.

I can't believe it....I'm so #*@@+*@ infuriated right now, I almost don't know what to do with myself. Jesus, where the @*!# is the offense? Thepitching might be the best in baseball, but my god, this excuse for an offense is ridiculous. Grown $+% men who can't hit their #*@@+*@ weight........%!%*

Pitchers are going to completely blow up pretty soon with all the innings their chewing. Not to mention, pressure innings at that with such low scores.

And the Brewers lost too, which means we coulda gained a little ground, won a road series, built a little.......

Well it's obvious. If we can't take two out of three and score more than three runs against Houston, then we won't be winning this division. We're just not that good people. Face it, admit it. No blind hope or faith. We just down right suck.

I can't remember a time in my life where the problem with the Cubs was offense, not pitching.

But really, what can I expect from a utility infield lineup

Theriot
Fontenot
Scales
Miles
Blanco
Reed Johnson
Koy Hill

Could we get anymore non hitters in one lineup? This God damn lineup isn't gonna do anything. Throw in Soto struggling, Lee not the same guy, Soriswinging for grand slams with the bases empty, another light hitter in Fuku, and the on base machine that isn't Bradley............

Jesus.

The problem is Hendry. Always been. He has to go, start with him, and our team will see some positive results.

I wouldn't really look nothing into losing a series to us. We RARELY get pitching like we got these past 2 days

When is Aramis due back?

No, the reason your guys got "Cy Young" quality pitching is your team played the Cubs. Our motto:

"We make the opposing team's pitcher look like Cy Young."

Also the fact that we're ranked somewhere around 12 or 13th in offense. That should do it as well.

I heard rumors of Aramis around the all star break wasn't it?

He's great, and will help, but how's he gonna make all these other dudes hit the ball? We were showing signs of sucking on offense even when he washealthy.

Thing is, we had chances all series. Today alone we had runners on 1st and 3rd no one out, and we didn't score.....how freakin pathetic. We could'veswept Houston, and been like a half game out.

The Cubs are the worst situational hitting baseball team in America. Hell, Bradley alone stranded like 10 guys the other night.

Irony.

A bunch of 5 foot 10 white guys who actually aren't good situational hitters. Terrific

I mean, isn't that what those little Ecksteins are used for?

Hochevar just threw 80 pitches against us. Yes 80 and pitched a complete game. I dont want to hear anyone else complaining in here about their teams offensiveoffenses. He came in with an era of 7.

No timetable for Votto's return

KANSAS CITY
- Reds general manager Walt Jocketty says first baseman Joey Votto's return to the lineup is up to Votto.

But it sounds as if it won't be immediately after he's eligible to return from the 15-day disabled list.

Votto is eligible to come off the DL Sunday. That won't happen.

"We really haven't put any timetable on it," Jocketty said. "But I think he is feeling better and working out."

Votto will go on a minor-league rehabilitation assignment to get at-bats before being activated.

"I'm not sure when that will be," Jocketty said. "We're talking about it."

If Votto came to the Reds and said he wanted to go now, they'd allow it. begin it.

"When he says he's ready to go, he'll go," Jocketty said.

Votto has been on the DL since May 30 with stress-related issues. At Votto's request, the Reds have not been specific about his problem, other than to say "he's dealing with a personal matter."

The Reds went into Friday with a 5-7 record since Votto went out. That's a tribute to the good pitching. The team is struggling offensively.

Going into Friday, the Reds had scored a total of 36 runs in the 12 games that Votto had missed since being put on the DL.

"You have to man up," said Brandon Phillips. "You don't think about it before the play. You wait until after the play - when it hurts."

The Cincinnati Reds second baseman is playing with a healing hairline fracture on his right thumb and, strangely, it hurts the most when he throws.

man up, Joey.
