He said that he would accept any role a NBA team offered him, including coming off the bench. He said he just "wanted to be wanted on a NBA team". No matter what he said teams wouldn't believe that he wouldn't cause problems or actually be fine with coming off the bench in a 6th man type role. As far as him working hard this summer I've seen some of his stuff from this summer(workouts and other things) and I remember his tweets also about how he was fine with taking any role in the league and that he was working harder than anyone in the league to make up for last year.
