OFFICIAL 2013 FANTASY FOOTBALL TALK

I say Starks and Royal the thing about these guys the other one options are suffering from concussion issues I'd also look into that MJD situation as well, the fact ray rice didn't even go for an MRI today is good news

Put up 158 last week and put up 78 this week. Only change was I switched out cameron for d. Richardson. All my guys underperformed besides Julio.

Josh Gordons on the wire.

drop Golden Tate for him?

Definitely. I think he (if available) and Eddie royal are probably the waiver guys for the week. Pierce is normally owned, and James Starks is a nice pickup. But he might only be useful for one week

Bottom line: everyone needs to get josh Gordon if possible.

here is this weeks nffc article i enjoy reading. hope you guys enjoy it as well.

Week 2 Thoughts & Observations
Unread postby Tom Kessenich » Mon Sep 16, 2013 12:25 pm

Here are some random thoughts and observations about Week 2 as I wonder just how cool a Broncos-Seahawks Super Bowl could be:

From the “This is why they play the games” File, let’s take a look at some of the names among the Top 10 quarterbacks in the NFFC through two weeks:
Michael Vick – 3rd
Philip Rivers – 4th
Sam Bradford – 5th
Matt Schaub – 6th

Meanwhile, Drew Brees is 15th, Colin Kaepernick is 14th and Tony Romo is 17th. I’m not even gonna look and see where Tom Brady is at. Yeah it’s a long season but this game sure gets crazy once games start to count, doesn’t it?

There’s a lot of consternation about Robert Griffin III but from a fantasy perspective his owner have to be elated. He’s basically going through his preseason now and still is the 7th-ranked quarterback in the NFFC. The ******** defense looks pretty bad so RG3 could be airing it out a ton this season. Once he shakes the rust off his production could increase even more.

Last Wednesday night, Greg and I told caller after caller after caller on our Sirius show to start James Jones because we were both confident the Packers would make a point to get him the ball against Washington. I hope people were listening.

Think Aaron Rodgers likes throwing to Randall Cobb? Check out these numbers. 16 receptions on 17 targets for 236 yards, two touchdowns and a 158.0 QB rating

Those who follow me on Twitter know how hard I’ve been pimping Chris Givens for over a year now and he came through nicely against the Falcons. I loved that matchup for Sam Bradford and the Rams’ passing game and, quite honestly, I love the Rams’ passing game all season long. Bradford is talented and finally has a wealth of weapons to utilize. There’s a reason why he was my favorite upside QB2 this season and we’re seeing it right now.

Tavon Austin, my heart is bursting with Man Love.

On the other hand, I loved Josh Freeman as an upside QB2 this week because of his great history against the Saints. Instead, he came up real small against a team he typically owns. There are 14 more games left in the regular season but I think we’re witnessing the end of Freeman’s days as an NFL starting quarterback.

I think it may be time for the Saints to scrap the Mark Ingram thing. He just doesn’t fit their offense. Turn the running back duties over to Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles. Something tells me you’ll be more than fine with the two of them.

Apparently, Tampa Bay’s defensive plan against the Saints was to leave Jimmy Graham wide open all day. That was dumb.

Adrian Peterson’s first run of the season went for 78 yards and a touchdown. He’s gained 115 yards on his next 43 attempts. That’s a 2.7 YPC average for those of you scoring at home and that ain’t good. But since he’s Adrian Peterson something tells me he’ll sort things out sooner rather than later.

Rough week for running backs as Reggie Bush, Ray Rice, Steven Jackson, Maurice Jones-Drew and Eddie Lacy owners can attest. I’m guessing David Wilson owners hope he was hurt too. That would at least prevent them from being teased into keeping him in their starting lineup.

Roddy White begins the season with a high ankle sprain. Larry Fitzgerald gets hurt in practice last week and re-aggravates the injury on Sunday. Andre Johnson gets hurt on Sunday too. Life ain’t any easier for wide receivers either.

I’m not an NFL head coach or general manager so I’m sure there’s someone in Carolina much smarter than me who can explain the Panthers’ baffling offensive game plan against the Bills.

Then again, maybe there isn’t.

Nice rally E.J. Manuel. That was a big boy drive you led to beat the Panthers.

You too, Jay Cutler.

Yes the Seahawks’ defense is legit and the Packers’ defense … well … isn’t … but one catch for Anquan Boldin? One? Seriously? One?

One?

Marshawn Lynch absolutely owns the 49ers. #BeastMode

Anybody else feeling real smart about leaving the Vikings’ defense on their bench on Sunday or is it just me?

I’m not sure what it was I saw from the Ravens against Cleveland but that wasn’t a Super Bowl caliber offense, that’s for sure.

Welcome to Miami, Mike Wallace.

In case you were wondering why so many people loved Jamaal Charles’ upside this season we saw it in place on Sunday against Dallas. Despite struggling on the ground for most of the game, Charles still had a big Week 2 because Andy Reid kept him involved in the passing game. Eight receptions, including a TD grab, was the end result for Charles. Amazing what can happen when a player is actually utilized intelligently.

Hold on a second … One catch for Anquan Boldin?

One?

It took them awhile but the Texans finally have a complement for Andre Johnson. DeAndre Hopkins is legit.

Garrett Graham touchdown catch vulture.

Back to the Waiver Wire you go, Dallas Clark and Brent Celek.

It’s a long season but Chris Johnson may be more of a RB3 than the high-end RB2 many projected him to be. One catch in two games and no work near the goal line. Things can change but CJ’s gonna need a lot to happen if he’s going to reach his draft day value this season.

That’s more like it Dez Bryant and Calvin Johnson.

It’s nice that everybody focused so intently on Chip Kelly’s offense in Philadelphia but maybe a little more attention should’ve been placed on the defense. Just a thought.

The Jaguars are averaging 1.4 points per quarter and are on pace for eight offensive touchdowns this season. I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that’s not very good.

Down by 2.5 pts, but I got AJ Green and Bengals defense left, and all his players have played

I'm wondering if Bradford's performance was out of necessity, being down 24-3, or glimmer of his QB ability.
talent is there, knew it was gonna be a shootout vs atl. i shouldve started him over Cam

im really gonna have to ponder Sam over Cam this year if Cam doesnt rush for td's.

might try to low ball trade for brees in this league

Down about 10 in one league with AJ left to go. He better show out tonight. I'm worried he was almost TOO good in the first game and that pitt is gonna throw bodies at him all night.

Theres a lot of really nice buy low candidates right now I think. Some have to do with injuries, but whatever, if you can spare a week, then by the playoffs or bye weeks, your team should kill

QB:

Brady

Cam

RB:

Ridley

SJax

Lacy

CJ Spiller

WR:

Roddy

Steve Smith

That's just a few off the top of my head. And I would bail on some guys that had nice games this week, like Stevie J, Bowe, maybe eric decker if possible.

And man, I am so glad people reached ahead of me in drafts for David Wilson. He may work his way back at the end of the year like last season, but I just think coughlin has lost trust....

I hate when your fantasy matchup comes down to MNF

All I worry about all day

FF is too stressful lol

oh yeah and i had stevie johnson on my bench while i started steve smith along with cam.

cam and steve smiths value go hand in hand. was i worng to draft them both?

Scored 126 last week with Vereen.

Put up 127 this week already without him and I still have Steelers D tonight. I'm up 52 points :hat

NON PPR

I give up Alfred Morris, Mike Williams and Mark Ingram

I get Miles Austin and Frank Gore

I drafted Mike Williams on accident. I'm aware Gore has struggled but I think since RG3 not completely right people are going to start to put 8 in the box to key in on Morris and his numbers will decline. Cowboys play from behind thus I get the good and bad Romo sometimes :rolleyes. Am I still giving up to much?
Too much. Morris was a late first-rounder for most. He'll shake off the rust along with RG3. Those big early deficits are killing Washington.

Williams is also slightly better than Miles, even with Freeman at Q. Miles disappointed severely against KC.

Should I abandon ship on MJD?! thinkin of offering him up for Mendenhall..I dont even know if MJD is carrying any value anymore lol
MJD is a buy low candidate. You could jump ship now, Mendy isn't bad value. I'm the type to wait it out, it's not like Jacksonville's passing offense is a weapon. Their only hope to be competitive is MJD and stout defense.

thinking about dropping michael floyd or andre roberts for knoshon moreno. i'd put a claim in for bernard pierce but the dude that has ray rice has the fewest points so he'll win the wire.
I'd definitely pick up Moreno over Pierce, Floyd, Roberts. His production is real as exhibited the end of last season. He just needs to pass pro effectively and hold onto the football, unlike Ball. Hillman gets no shine.

I'd drop Floyd if it's standard. I'd drop Roberts if it's PPR.

Josh Gordons on the wire.

drop Golden Tate for him?
Yes, I like Baldwin more than Tate as a football player. Sid is disappointing as well.

Gordon is a sleeper after the suspension. Only weapon for Weeden besides Cameron.

best waiver wire pick up?

Starks
Bernard Pierce
Eddie Royal
Royal, Starks, Pierce in that order. Unless you on Ray Rice.

Royal has five touchdowns in two games. Rivers is looking strong again, thanks to McCoy's help. Gates a shell of his former self. Floyd injured. Vincent Brown is who I thought would be producing like Royal.

Yay or Nay:

I get: David Wilson and Jimmy Graham

I give: Eddie Lacy and Dez Bryant

My team:

QB: Brady

RB: Doug Martin, Lacy, Vereen*, Montee Ball, Donald Brown, Bernard Pierce

WR: Dez, AJ, Cecil, Emmanuel Sanders

TE: Gronk, Daniels

Non PPR, 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 Flex (WR,RB,TE)

AP, TRich, Jordy, Desean, Romo....This is the core of one of my teams that is 0-2. 2nd or 3rd in the league in points. I HATE these kinds of years. :lol

I better reel off like 8 in a row.

Trying to do 2 buy-low trades in my PPR big $$ League:

1 - Eddie Lacy (I have CJ, SJax, Lacy and Woodhead) for his David Wilson (he only has McCoy, Mendenhall, and Vereen... so he's a little thin on RBs)

Is trading Lacy giving up too much? Should I wait till I get to watch this kid play?

2 (With a different Team) - Russell Wilson (my backup is Vick) for his Tom Brady. Its a stretch but that's the whole point of trying to buy low from frustrated owners right?

Ryan/TRich/Forte/Roddy/Jordy/Edelman/Olsen for me... About to be 0-2.

I have a 1 point lead and they have Gio Bernard going for them tonight.

Could take a while with Coughlin. Takes time to correct ball security, technically and mentally. Plus he can't pass pro for his life. I like the thought, but you already have Gronk returning soon. No need for another elite TE, even if Jimmy is the best.

I thought he was picking up the blitz okay yesterday... He did whiff on 1 or 2 but they didn't end up being threats to the QB.

I'm looking to buy low on Chris Johnson.  What would be enough to get it done?  Team A is me.

Team A

QB - Newton, Roethlisberger

RB - Spiller, Sproles, Bernard, Woodhead

WR - Marshall, Nicks, Shorts, M. Williams, Wright, Sanu*

TE - Finley

D/ST - Dolphins

K - Tucker

IR - Harvin

*I planned on putting a waiver claim in for Eddie Royal and dropping Sanu after tonight

Team B

QB - Brady, Palmer

RB - CJ, Mathews, Mendenhall, Reece, Tolbert

WR - A. Johnson, Brown, Michael Floyd, Avery

TE - Thomas, Daniels

D/ST - Ravens
