Jabari can score from everywhere on the floor, isn't overly athletic but will surprise you. Game screams Melo. Watch him in person

Hakeem Olajuwon wants to work with Blake Griffin

Hakeem Olajuwon has a new shoe coming out, the DR34M (can we please stop with numbers for letters? It's not 2002 anymore.) Nice Kicks got the following interview with the legend, and he talked about who he wants to work with next, Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin.

Transcription via ProBasketballTalk.com:

“I don't know that I would like to, but a player that needs [my help] is Blake Griffin. If you look at Blake, he's very explosive, but he needs the moves that can get him in that position where he can finish. [...] So he would be an ideal guy to where, when I watch him play and I see how explosive he is, I'd give him all of these moves to take him to a whole different level.”

via Hakeem Olajuwon says Blake Griffin could benefit from his teachings | ProBasketballTalk.

OK, this one... deserves a little discussion.

Among players with at least three possessions per game in the post last season, Griffin was 13th in points per possession via Synergy Sports, ranked right behind Carmelo Anthony.*

In reality, Griffin's post move set is about where it should be for a player of his age. He's got quality footwork and enough touch on his moves. He can improve, obviously, but his areas of emphasis probably shouldn't be in the post, especially since he's only 6-10. The Dream's moves can work for everyone (see: Bryant, Kobe) but if Griffin goes in the post he'll be matched up against bigger opponents at least a decent percentage of the time.

Griffin's bigger need is to continue rehabbing his jumpshot, which was quietly better last season, but faded late and still needs a major uptick to spread the floor and keep his defender from playing back to the rim. Beyond that, and this is something I wonder with every big man that goes to work with Olajuwon, why not learn some defense?

Olajuwon was certainly the beneficiary of his crazy length and height, but he was also lightning quick with his anticipation and able to swallow possessions whole. Both one-on-one and in help situations, Olajuwon was elite. Why not impart some of that knowledge? Griffin's offense is likely to get there on its own. Defense is where he really needs some help, and where the Dream could help the most.

*Possessions factoring pass-outs, so if they passed for a score

idk if its just me, but for some reason he reminds me alot of this dude.....lets pray that he doesnt go the same way

Has more of Melo's game aka his footwork and jumper. Think a freshman year Melo who was also boarding and not the chucker we have now :lol

Lol one guy thought he was a PG, and another compared him to Gerald Green. He's definitley a more well rounded melo. Not a bad athlete like people make him out to be, just not overly explosive, plus he has that chubby samoan gene, so theres a misconseption that he wont blow past you.

He's a lot better athlete than most realize, very skilled for his age and is only getting better

Hopefully Blake and Dream can link up at some point in his career. Would do wonders for his game on O & D.

if there was a list he would be 1-7 on it

gotta listen to that GP speech after wk
Just to worn you his speech was kind of akward to me. Dude needs to work on his comedic delivery.

Jabari is part somoan? He looks like it but i didnt know anywhere east of Utah had somoans. Im really excited to see the offense run through him. A lot of 15 ft iso's im predicting.

"worn" :lol

If the Glove can get in I expect McGrady to follow suit soon enough 8)

What the hell? The 'O' and the letter 'A' aren't even close to each other on the keyboard :lol

for a guy that likes to talk, it was kind of awkward to see him reading word for word

and obviously that guy has his auto correct on
it strikes again :{

How is this logical?

TMac shouldn't be spoken of in the same sentence as Glove.

As far as Jabari and Gerald Green, if you watch Gerald Greens high school highlights, they look eerily similar

Jabari Parker is nowhere near as athletic as Gerald Green, and Gerald Green to this day is not as skilled as an 18 yr old Jabari lol. Highlights dont tell the whole story.

Even after forcing the trade to the Mavs his number should still be retired. Best player for the Nets in the NBA.

His number will be retired in the preseason vs the Heat

Yeah. He's gonna suspended for the first 2 games. And they don't wanna have a distraction during the season
