OFFICIAL 2015-2016 College Football Season Thread

Because Sarkisian had every won anything more than 8 games before getting the SC job.

It doesn't keep him away from anyone who was legitimately interested and were going to offer him a big gig

USC was going to offer more than that anyway as a starting point. It makes it less of a financial loss if he decides he can compete for a championship in the future with Houston, but the Cougars aren't going to join a Power 5 in the next two years so I don't see how a coach with huge aspirations could see them as a destination.

He's a hot name right now. If Houston regresses and wins 7-8 games next year Texas, USC, and LSU(?) probably won't be knocking.

Miami might.

I understand the point of your statement, that somehow our candidates would be underqualified to coach at your school (:rolleyes), but:

A. Our HC position will be taken this time next year, and
B. Tom Herman doesn't even seem to be on our radar right now.

He took a pot shot, but his last HC's nickname is "Seven Win Steve". The coach before that won 7 games at UT and was given the SC job.

The difference between us and USC fans is that we acknowledge our mediocrity. They act like Leinart is still handing the ball off to Bush on Saturdays.
Oooh you so sensitiveeee.

I was half-joking but since you want to get into it:

1. Kiffin and Sark are USC alums/coordinators and both friends of Haden. He hired them for his own bureaucratic power hungry reasons.

Herman is an outsider. An outsider from a mid-major. An outsider with 7-8 wins isn't winning Haden any points or influence. There'd be no incentive to make that hire.

2. USC is mediocre? We finished 5th 4 years ago, and beat a top 5 team 4 weeks ago.

When's the last time Miami has done either of those things?

I'll wait.

Our mediocrity is finishing the season ranked with multiple victories over top 25 teams. YOUR mediocrity is akin to Wake Forest's (except not even really since they've actually won their division in the past 15 years.)

Don't put Miami and USC in the same breath.

Even when responding to a jest.

We finished 5th with Marc Tyler. You finished 10th. In your conference. With Duke Johnson. You need 11 Reggie Bush's way more than we need one

:lol right? He's trying to make this a **** measuring contest. I'm conceding that we suck. That was my point, and he's proving it by trying to convince us that USC is still relevant when they're really just the Georgia of the West Coast.

USC is ranked 7th in the FPI right? That's something! Even though I don't know what that means when you're 7-3

:lol. Same ding dongs beating the same old drum.

As tumultuous as it has been, you know sanctions and coaching changes. Good to know this is about as bad as it's going to get.

We are probably the most relevant irrelevant team in CFB. :lol

Lets be real now, worst sanctions since SMU and we are still not Miami bad. :lol

Georgia of the west coast, that the best you can do. :lol.

.

Whatever helps you sleep at night bro.

Cowherd also said today that USC already has their coach. He called Sark to SC early last time.

I remember reading Keyshawn said the same thing weeks back. Weren't there already some formal interviews at this point after Kiffin? There has been no legit news on this hire, just some speculation every couple of days.

@00david00

If it isn't Harbaugh or Herman or Helton, then I don't think so. When Keyshawn said that on the radio, he told the team the same weekend in Notre Dame game practice (there's a video somewhere) "You already got a coach and his name is Helton! Now go out there and show everyone why he deserves this job!"

Boosters have said they've met with Harbaugh and Payton and they've called Whittingham and Herman. I don't see them having chosen a coach yet.

The Sark thing is different because a ton of insiders were commenting on how NFL people and other college coaches were calling practically begging for the job and Haden wouldn't even give them interviews yet he gave Sark one. It was Kiffin all over (Harbaugh wanted the job when Kiffin got it and USc barely considered him -- rightfully so.)

Miami fans only exist behind a keyboard and a computer screen. We know damn well they don't have any real life fans. :lol

Serious question:

Does Miami get a bowl invite this year? Quick Lane Bowl?

Serious.
