Official 2015 NFL Draft Thread

The 70 yarder the guy was open by 9 yards. :lol However, MM did look off the safety, that was a plus move. Just an easy pitch and catch.

The drop by Stanford. Open by six miles.

He has almost no footwork in the pocket. Snap, fake, then bounce bounce shuffle shuffle. He gonna do that in the NFL? :{ No 3,5,7 step drops, no snaps under center, no throws into windows with anticipation, just college spread dictated reads. None of that **** gonna translate.

He does have some of the Russ, stay alive, head up, on the move, find a guy, throw. That will serve him well. First TD, perfect example.

But in the pocket, trailing, known passing down, he's dead. He was throwing screens and 4 yard dumps with 3 minutes left down 15.

He's going to need a ton of time just working NFL snaps under center, with drops, footwork, etc. Then lead receivers 10-12-18 yards deep both sides of the field. If someone tries to start him day 1, they aren't helping him. Draft and stash, he's got a shot.

I think he can have some early success, Kap, RG3, even Geno looked good a game or two year one. (That Falcon Monday nighter was like his 3rd-4th game) Once tape piles up tho, and coordinators get time to scan him, he will get shut back to reality like those guys have been.

He needs at least a year as a backup re-learning the position.

You summed up my thoughts perfectly.

Jameis must been smiling from ear to ear during this game :lol

How could you not mention the King of this scenario Cam Newton

Dude went from braking all time records in his first weeks to putting up rushing numbers in passing slots. Throwin for like 120 and ish
have you seen what cam is working with on the offensive side of the ball.. and it's not just the lack of WRs talent.. no one seems to mention the guys they lost along the Oline

also it's pretty hard to judge RG3 because of what Shanahan and co did with him on the field and what Snyder created off the field

kaep like a lot of dudes seemingly cant read a defense.. dude will try force it into his first read even if it isn't there (but there are a fair amount of "pocket passers" who do this too)

if MM is like russ and takes what is there, runs judiciously and throws it away when nothing is there he can be successful.. a lot of the guys named above get themselves in trouble because they force things or make extremely stupid decisions.. they believe in their throwing/running ability a lil tooo much

If Cardale can show out (assuming he declares) at his proday/individual workouts, he's gonna be a lock for the 1st round. Let's be real, he hates school anyways....

If dude is smart, he'll ride this wave....

You're tripping. A lock for the first round? Naw, man.

A team would have to be crazy to draft him in the first round but I wouldn't be surprised to see him go in the first three rounds if he tests out well.

teams do crazy stuff come draft time.. every year we have something that shocks the crap out of pretty much all of us

After Hundley is a combine superstar and throws the ball in a perfect spiral 80 yards down the field during his pro day I think he'll be the "what the ****" pick of the early first round.

I think Hundley will be a legit QB in the league as long as whoever drafts him doesn't try to start him in his rookie year

he's the one I'm most concerned with suffering the negatives mentioned about that group above.. if he doesn't end up in the right situation, I can see things going down hill fast

from everything we hear about MM, he's a smart kid and a hard worker (progression in their games is another thing that group above suffered from).. plus i think he will work within himself, instead of pressing things and making a bad situation worse

If you're a team sitting between picks 25-30, there is no risk taking Jones right then as a developmental project. No one is going to lose their job over taking him in the late 1st round.

If Mariota is shaky in his workouts, there is probably going to be more risk involved with the GM who takes him in the top-10.

Jones is a product of that offensive line and Urban working with what he has

that's just my opinion but I feel strongly about it

MM8 is one of those college dudes that looks good when everything is going right and we saw it last night. Jameis showed all year he can carry his team. I'm not sure on Jones. I can't pick somebody in the 1st round off of 3 games. He's got the size everything but that's where GM's get in trouble, they fall in love with the potential. 3 games is just too small of a sample size to me.

Jameis carried his team with the help of the best WR in FSU history on paper and a beast TE in Oleary

exactly what weapons did MM8 have last night in the air?

MM8 did good for what he had last night he almost threw for 400 yards still

He is very smart and has a high football IQ so he will pick up things fast but he has to sit or else he will be doomed from the gate

Mariota to the Patriots would be the perfect situation! He fits the character of those guys and he can learn from Tom and wont be pressured to play year 1,2, and 3

I know you've said a few times the Pats would be a great fit but just how do you think they'll possibly draft him.....

I straight up don't want him at this point. He's not a #1 pick type of player. Without the off the field issues Jameis is. Simple as that. If we do draft him I want a damn good explanation on how we plan on fitting an offense around him.

you gonna see real fast what Jameis is

honestly im more excited about the younger QBs still in college

I don't think their is any doubt how smart Mariota is. Unfortunately, that's not a guarantee that you can translate to the NFL. Kaepernick, Brady Quinn and Ponder are all smart.

There's just not precision in his mechanics. CP said it perfectly...He's catching the ball out of shotgun, maybe he does a zone read PA, but other than that he just bounces and shuffles a bit then heaves the ball. It almost looks like he pushes the ball at times. You can work on those things, sure, but it's time consuming and takes a lot of practice hours for the uncertainity that he eventually does mold himself into an NFL-type passer. That's not worth a first round pick to me. He needs to sit and sit a few years, but the NFL doesn't work that way. You get drafted, you're expected to be ready. Unfortunately, a lot of Q's are thrusted into action sooner than their ready. Their athleticism holds up well out of the gate, but when defenses adjust and film adds up, the quarterback -- who all his life relied on being the best athlete and never fully developed the mental side -- is forced to make decisions. Decisions that go against instincts and force them to try and play a new way. Enter a new learning period. Kaep is going through it now.

Jameis, with weapons or not, has the look of an NFL quarterback. From his drop, to subtle pocket movements and has shown the ability to throw pinpoint passes in small windows. He's struggled at times, but he's just so further along than Mariota is. It's easier to work on decision making than it is mechanics because you're training your mind to recognize certain things as do's or don'ts. Mariota not only needs to adjust to that with the speed of NFL defenses, but also needs to tune up his mechanics. That's A LOT to work on.

Where Jameis has problems -- and why I'd be hesitant to draft him high -- is that he has a little too much Manziel in him. That is, off the field decisions making is poor.

This QB draft class is pretty weak, but I still think in terms of football only...Jameis is well ahead of the pack. So grateful Minnesota lucked out with Teddy because teams in need of a quarterback might end up spinning their wheels for a few years by taking one of these guys.

To be fair...

if Jameis wasn't a dumb *** off the field people would be saying he is a step below Andrew Luck but above everybody else as far as QB prospects go in the last 10 years

The nfl doesn't draft like the nba, Cardale jones would not go in the 1st round.

If Matt Jones can get drafted to a completely different position in the first round based off of athleticism and and a good showing at the combine, there is hope for Cardale.

I think he's as good as gone. Dude is obviously raw...but he's 22 and has other needs. If he can show out with his workouts etc., I do think there will be a gm/coaching staff who would be willing to take a risk in the 20-30 range.
