Arm Accuracy: Shows the ability to place ball on hands of receivers on all 3 levels. Capable of placing ball in tight windows, even from improper platform. Inconsistencies caused by mechanical lapses.
Poise: Constantly handling heavy pressure from both interior and exterior gaps. Defenses show high blitz % in effort to force mistakes, very good at staying calm vs. pressure and escaping/delivering ball.
Decision Making: Can be guilty of tunnel vision in the pocket when under duress. Great decision maker on timing based throws and off primary read. Guilty of overextending plays in pocket; taking sacks.
Pocket Awareness: Excellent at feeling pressure and shifting or sliding in the pocket to extend plays. Shows ability and willingness to climb the ladder in the pocket.
Arm Strength: Has the arm strength to make any throw on the field. Effortless ability to push ball down field. Strong, flat trajectory in window throws and intermediate areas. Ball explodes out of hand.
Mechanics: Snaps wrist on follow through to spin footballs, shows appropriate leg swing through the trail leg and good shoulder/torso rotation. Lapses flash when rushing delivery with heavy traffic.
Anticipation: Willing to throw the football quickly to beat free runners and blitzes. Throws sideline breaking throws on time. Strong ability to quickly ID primary read out of the snap.
Progressions: Can take extra half second to move on from covered primary reads. Likes to work half the field with his eyes on levels but is capable of utilizing full field of play.
Footwork: Can have lapses in crispness out of gun. Light, nimble feet. Appropriately steps to target, good weight transition. Resets feet on platform through progression with good, not great consistency.
Run Ability: Extremely dangerous, dynamic athlete from the pocket. Has a package of QB draws to punish overaggressive defenses. Great open field vision. Also has a huge frame; difficult to bring down.
Summary: Brett Hundley has performed at an extremely high level despite questionable talent surrounding him on the UCLA offense. Hundley will make some poor plays trying to make too much happen, but sub-par supporting cast has also helped prove ability to extend plays and handle pressure. Outstanding upside; has a skill set to be considered a Day 1 starter for a Quarterback hungry team.
