Is that demarco murray in the black tee? He has a telephone pole for a neck, how?

For the WARD HATERS!!!! And he was going up against March Madness (Elite Eight)

Former super middleweight champion Andre Ward’s lopsided decision win against Sullivan Barrera on Saturday night, Ward’s first fight in nine months and his first as a full-fledged light heavyweight, averaged 1.064 million viewers on HBO, according to Nielsen Media Research.

The fight, Ward’s first on HBO since November 2013, peaked at 1.152 million viewers for the live airing.

Ward is on track for a major fall HBO PPV fight against unified light heavyweight titleholder Sergey Kovalev, who was ringside at Oracle Arena in Ward’s hometown of Oakland, California. In January, Kovalev averaged 1.179 million viewers for his seventh-round destruction of former champion Jean Pascal.

Kovalev is due to fight again in June -- date, opponent and location are to be determined -- and Ward may also fight once more before they meet each other. The question is can they draw even larger audiences for those bouts and then convince fans to buy the big one on pay-per-view?

Ward-Barrera was on against the NCAA tournament’s Elite Eight games, which averaged 11.6 million viewers on CBS.

Although Ward has been out of action for quite some time -- the fight was only his fourth since the end of 2011 -- he topped the viewership for HBO’s Feb. 27 card headlined by junior welterweight titlist Terence Crawford’s defense against Hank Lundy, which averaged 982,000 viewers.

Saturday night’s co-feature, featherweight prospect Joseph Diaz’s entertaining rout of Jayson Velez, averaged 756,000 viewers and peaked at 875,000 viewers. Diaz, a 2012 U.S. Olympian, was making his HBO debut.

People tuned in to see if Jay Z and B would be there, in addition to what celebs would show up for Rocnation. Either that or something to pull them to sleep.

People tuned in because of the possible fight with Kovalev this year. How was his numbers against Paul Smith on BET with no mention of Kovalev?

I don't think people tuned in just because of a possible Kovalev match up. I don't see Sergei at the level where people are tuning in just to watch the guy he's fighting next.

Comparing an HBO Boxing telecast to a BET Boxing telecast is absurd :lol

Could be a ton of factors. Honestly Sullivan could have been a factor. I'm guessing Cubans in the US rep for theirs.

It's not like Andre is a slouch either. Usually in the Top 5 P4P discussions. And the guy was in Creed for ***** sake :lol

I'm not saying people are tuning in JUST to see the next guy Kovalev is fighting, as if Ward is a nobody. I'm saying Ward doesn't does do 1.152 million viewers if he's not in talks to fight Kovalev this year.

Furthermore, HBO doesn't even pick up his fight if he doesn't agree to fight Kovalev. Same thing they did with Cotto to get him to fight Canelo.

Not at all :lol

Nah he is who a lot of us who have seen the movie rumor to be Creed's next opponent. It was supposed to be Danny Wheeler (Ward) vs. "Pretty" Ricky Conlan (Tony Bellew) but in the presser leading up to the bout Conlan broke his jaw.

If you're a boxing fan and haven't seen Creed you're badly missing out. No need to put that in spoilers :lol

Ah. Gotcha.

So that's not necessarily exclusive to Kovalev. It's the hope that the Barrera fight would lead to a bigger fight. Which should be a given for anyone fighting at a high level who's moving up in weight.

To me it boils down to the guy finally putting the BS behind him (injuries, promoter issues), getting his **** together and looking/sounding like he's committed to being an active boxer.

That's why I watched.

I'm not an AB supporter by any means, I was totally disgusted when he fought Escobedo and put up videos of him eating Twinkies before the fight cause he didn't care about weight and was going to move up...showing total disrespect to his opponent.
In this sport, regardless of all the trash talk, show your opponent as a man that you are respecting him as a fighter. You can say what you want to him as a man, or personality but as a fighter show your opponent the respect that is due.

With all that said it's kinda hypocritical that Floyd would take such a high moral stance on AB after all the questionable comments, moves, and actions he himself did as a fighter. These two young black fighters should be supporting and helping each other instead of throwing dirt. These guys have history.

"I'm still trying to find out what AB stands for. Always broke? I mean, that's what I thought AB stands for. Last year, I think Leonard made more money than Adrien Broner. He gave himself a 10-figure name: About Billions. We know he ain't never seen 8 figures or 9 figures. He's barely seen 7 figures. It could be safe to say that just one of my cars costs more than he made in his whole career."

Damn, Floyd didn't hold back

Floyd tore him apart :eek

Say it with your chest out Floyd :lol

I agree with everything he said tho, Broner be out of pocket and disrespectful when the cameras are on :{

Jabroner missed weight by .4lbs and has two hours to make weight or he loses his title on the scale.

Nick Blackwell expected to wake from his coma in 2-3 days.

Amidst all our trash talking we haven't given enough attention to Nick Blackwell....hope he comes out of that coma.
Prayers and thoughts go out to his family.
