I think there are 6 guys who will clearly be out of our reach - Ayton, Bagley, Doncic, Porter, Bamba, Jackson.
We're basically picking 3rd with the remaining guys. I'm hoping that Chicago and Cleveland take Carter and Trae. Carter might have a high floor, but he's a lower upside player that might not fit well next to KP because he can't run the floor or guard quicker 4s. I also feel like a rotation big isn't a scarce asset worth using the 9th pick on a rebuilding team because they can usually be filled in fairly easily during free agency (ex. KoQ) and doesn't usually cost a lot. Trae, I just don't think will be that good. And even if he becomes a great offensive player, he's such a liability on defense that he'd need to be putting up Steph Curry #s to justify him being a starter. The first 8 picks I will be rooting for Carter and Trae to be picked.
So assuming those six guys go first, I probably want
1) Mykal Bridges
2) Colin Sexton
3) Kevin Knox
4) Lonnie Walker
5) Miles Bridges
I'm happy with any of those 5 guys, and honestly have a hard time deciding the order beyond Mykal first. I think that Mykal and Sexton probably have the best chances of being starters, bc their games have less flaws, but I'm ok betting on Knox or Walker's upside because we need a more dynamic, go-to scorer. I'm still not a big believer in Tim Jr, who I think is really ideally a Eric Gordon-like sixth man on a competitive team, and I think Lonnie would be a fun player to watch, he's got the skills and athleticism, just needs to develop more. I'm not a huge fan of Knox, if you watched him at Kentucky he went ghost all the time when they needed him, but I'm willing to give him a pass because some UK teams do a bad job of highlighting talented scorers that can generate their own shot (ex. Jamal Murray, Devin Booker) and I probably take him ahead of Walker simply bc we need a SF more and he's a slightly better shooter. I 100% believe the report that he destroyed Miles in their workout on Saturday. I like Miles, but he doesn't seem to have the first step to be able to create, so he's most likely an undersized, small ball 4. I can see him being a more athletic and much more aggressive Jae Crowder, which is a good player, but not exactly what I want. I actually feel like we're picking in a good spot because you really could argue that any of the picks 7-14 have a chance at being a good starter.
