Do any of you score your fights? I score every fight I watch with the scorecard app on iOS.

Nah, I'm too busy trying to comment on #NTBoxing between rounds, lol. But I can say at the end of a fight if one fighter dictated a fight, landed more punches, and won a fight round by round, or if it was a draw.

After every big fight with a controversial decision there's ALWAYS one NTer who's like "You guys didn't see the same fight I saw. Judges had it right." Which is fine, except something has to be hinky when it's like 10/1 "bogus" in the overall assessment of the scoring.

Coming from someone who put 1k on canelo... ggg won 8-4 without a doubt. I honestly dont care about the monetary value, but that decision made me sick to my stomach. The the main reason why i bet canelo is cuz im aware of the politics of boxing, and that decison made me sick to my stomach. I honestly would've been more satisfied if i lost my bet than the outcome of this fight

Whatever... canelo ggg 2 = $

I almost always score the first couple rounds and then fall off because I'm too drunk and/or lazy to keep going, or the fights too good and I just want to enjoy it

But I had it 3-2 GGG going into the 6th. Don't remember thinking Canelo won a round through the 9th. My card mirrors Moretti. Except like somebody just mentioned, I think in the 10th Canelo came out blazing for the first minute and then went back to his back against the ropes and arguably lost that round.

If Canelo had better cardio he coulda took this thing clean. Either GGG is on the downslide or the competition is finally stiff enough to challenge him, or both.

Ok we've talked enough about the scoring... How will the rematch go? I have Canelo winning. In the first fight, he probably focused too much on setting up for the uppercut or the punch that he knocked out Kirkland with against the ropes. He should be much more savvy in the rematch. GGG looked noticeably slower than before and in eight months he can only regress.

Yeah, I can see Canelo making adjustments. He wasn't that far off from winning this one outright, and GGG is just gonna get older

I'm fairl weather boxing fan and would like to know how the scoring works ? Am I too late

Basically, each round is scored individually. Barring knockdowns by both fighters, or points being taken away for fouls (headbutts, low blows, etc.) One of the fighters should receive 10 pts for "winning the round" while the other fighter should get 9 points or fewer, depending on how badly he was beaten (if I knock you down and otherwise win the round I'll get a 10-8 score, but if you won the round and I happen to get a random knockdown it can be a 9-9 round).

Each round is scored based on how active each fighter is, punches landed (the judges do not see the compubox #s, they base their scores off their personal estimation of what they see land), and "ring generalship", basically who dictated the action and initiated the offense.

At the end of the fight, each round is tallied and the three judges scorecards are compared.

And if you're Adelaide Byrd, you can just make **** up.

yea, son wen tthe f off. was just checking his vids n comments on twitter. he was ready to hurt something

Ok, so all you oldskool boxing heads (older than me, at least), please answer me this:

When they reduced championship fights from 15 rds, why on earth didn't they make them 11 or 13 rds if only to avoid the possibility of a draw???

(And yea, I understand 10-8 rds could lead to draws in that scenario, but at least it would be more justified that simply saying "6-6, draw")

12 was the recommendation from a couple medical organizations IIRC. They did some studies and found the brain is more susceptible to serious damage after the 12th RD. It's also worth noting that the change was made when network television was still broadcasting big fights, and 12 RDs fits a lot nicer in TV blocks.

Beside the fact that draws are good for the business of the sport ( like tonight for example), the apprehensiveness to ties is a uniquely American phenomenon and boxing is a global sport.

I don't have a problem with draws if a fight warrants it, but this did not. GGG won by 3 or 4 RDs IMO.

The way I judge is simple. If you landed more punches you win the round, if you won more rounds you won the fight, either that or you get the stoppage. It shouldn't involve anything to do with opinions just count the shots landed, how hard it was doesn't matter unless it's a knockdown or knockout

Oh, don't get me wrong, I don't mind draws in stuff like soccer/"football", and didn't mind ties in the NHL when they were a thing. I just think that if you and I beat on each other for 30+ mins one of us should be ajudicated the victor unless absolutely necessary based on knockdowns or fouls. And if it means making a fight 11 rds and possibly sparing the dudes' brains that extra 3 mins of damage, I'm 110% for it.

fight was a sham. I dont want to hear anythiing bad about floyds fights again. As fans we were screwed . That was bs. Messed up GGG perfect record. and for what? Another small pay day? They aint doing mayweather number no matter what.
