CFB's early signing period is official. Recruits can sign their NLI's starting Dec. 20, 2017 http://247sports.com/Bolt/College-footballs-early-signing-period-is-now-official--52678209

Downside to new early signing period: Some HC changes do happen after Dec. 20 each yr. This probably will trigger a bunch of NLI appeals.

Honestly may make things worse with top recruits. More kids may sign grant-in-aids with schools now, no?

Top guys can and definitely should. I thought we were going to see a flood of those post Roquan Smith but it didn't happen.

This will help the borderline P5 and G5 types from getting dropped by new coaches, but unless you REALLY like the school, why play for someone who doesn't want you?

How will it prevent that?

The NOI binds the school and the player together right?

Let's say ur a borderline FBS recruit committed to Toledo (your only FBS offer) if you sign your LOI in December and Candle gets hired by someone in January, your safe now from getting dropped before NSD by the new staff, no?
