WHAT
Masai has no interest in running the Caps or esports or arena football or just being the bottomline guy for the whole org- the man is passionate about basketball. So here we go:
1)stake in MSN offers massive, MASSIVE returns down the road, that goes without saying, and is something that will beat whatever the Raps are paying him- tho he is rumored to have a stake there too. However to anyone paying attention it’s obvious Leonsis is going to be esports and gambling King, thus the stake here is possibly wildly more appealing.
2)This would give him a huge platform for Basketball without Borders. The guy is already working with Obama (who still lives in DC) on the program and the ability to use MSN in whatever ways he could figure to further it must be appealing- to Ted as well. This would be THE in to the African talent pool we keep talking about and also a way for Masai (and Barrack!) to turbocharge the program.
3)The Kicker. As head of it all and not just the Wizards, Ujiri would have huge budgetary discretion one would think. Why is that key? Because the ONLY way Masai would even consider DC right now is if Ted was willing to pay hefty lux taxes for a number of years. Putting Masai in charge means he could use the general pool of money to pay taxes if he chose to rather than having to ask Ted for permission so to speak. It’s giving him the ability to say "Hey guess what, Kawhi wants to come here and I’m making it happen but it’s gonna cost $40mill in taxes this year, no worries tho because the Mystic can keep flying coach and those gamer kids dont need a chef"
Now I dont know what’s rumored and what’s real obviously, but if Ted truly wants Masai this is the ONLY way to make it happen. And guess what? If Masai comes here after Raps win Championship, all of a sudden DC is a major player in the nba FA market. Make no mistake, players will gravitate to Ujiri at this point- at least some of the major ones. Especially when part of his pitch is "Well Anthony, we are going to promote you all over Asia within our esports brand too"
Who knows what will happen but gotta credit Ted for not half-steppin.
Whooooooooooooooooooooooooa. Damn..........
HOW???????
He said Metta World Peace Jr
That can’t be his name
Lamelo's talent is undeniable, but we just haven't seen him play really competitive organized basketball.
And he's literally never once bent his knees on defense.
