Official 2019 NYK offseason thread. Brooklyn knick fans check in

while i agree but at the same time thats not an excuse for poor draft picks... it seems like regardless of the gm/president they still draft terrible...the warriors didnt exactly have top 3 picks every year but they hit on every draft...now they compete for a championship every year and this is even before durant got there... you look at all the guys we passed up on in the draft the last 15 years and its crazy...last year for example coulda shoulda woulda had donovan mitchell and even brought him here for a workout but nah pass to pick frank lol.... its like the easy thing is to blame dolan for everything
The majority of the past 15 years was never about rebuilding though. So draft picks was more like choose somebody that might help a little bit in a certain area and if they don't work out oh well we're more focused on trading draft picks and trying to sign washed stars. Part of that is due to Dolan's approach and mentality on top of who he chose to run things.

Even when Dolan was convinced the team needed to suck for a while it wasn't for draft position and getting the top 5 rookie talent but to just get cap space and sign LeBron.

My last thing about Frank, HE WASNT EVEN GOOD IN EURO LEAGUE PLAY so why the **** would he be good in the NBA?!??!

So the theory is with most Frank stans is that you can take anyone with an athletic build and Long wingspan and if you’re patient and have the right coach they can be NBA players?

Smh at that article… so the team was going to pick Mitchell then phil comes in acts like he knows what hes doing and picks frank… a week later he gets fired and frank ends up being terrible… good job phil

Looking back at it, I woulda taken that Elfrid Payton for Frank trade.

I feel for Frank, I think why the fans have been so patient with him because he genuinely seems like a good kid. I honestly don’t know wtf this kid does outside of basketball. Hope he puts it together, as of right now he don’t even look better than Dante Exum.

Also, the KP injury was a blessing in disguise. We drafted a clear cut all star starter, then were given a huge opportunity with TWO MORE top 10 picks. Teams rarely if ever get that kind of chance. We blew it big time.

Teams that stay in the lotto for 3,4,5 consecutive years are missing on their picks. We're heading in that direction.

Idc how early it is but Knox and Frank are straight up busts at where they were selected. We would've been in OKC and GS territory had we hit on 1 more pick. Other players (Tmac, Hayward, PG, etc) have shown flashes of their potential their first year. Knox has so many bad tendencies and shows zero flashes. Literally none. The type of leap he'd have to make in the next 2-3 years would have to be legendary.

The team would never do it, but I'd strongly consider packaging both while they still have some value.

YUP!!!

I was talking about Frank's development not Mudiay. Mudiay is reclamation project that the team picked for next to nothing and he's in the midst of a career revitalization. Frank was our #8 pick, supposed to be our PG of the future and he's struggling to score 5 points a game. Stop deflecting. It's like talking about Lonzo Ball's progress and someone says "Well what about Rondo?!"...who cares?

And him not scoring a bucket in garbage time looks even worse! He played almost the whole 4th quarter and didn't score a single point or grab a rebound. Where is the pride? He couldn't throw himself into someone to draw a foul and hit at least one FT to get on the board? He couldn't make up his mind that no one is going to grab the next rebound over him? Ron Baker came into the game with way more passion, confidence and energy than Frank and he's always glued to the bench. He can't even shine among the 3rd stringers and people are calling for him to play bigger minutes. Have y'all watched the games? We get run over by teams when Frank is in there early.

He's gotta start showing something, this is on him and no one else. He's been given every chance to succeed. They've played him on ball and off ball, starting and off the bench, early in games and late in games..the only constant is his futility.

I want to see the kid get it together but please...back to back games with 0's in almost every stat except TO's? That's on him bro. He's gotta own that criticism. He been getting off light if you ask me.

People want to hype up guys who havent got it together on the last year of their rookie contract but dog out a kid who hasn't played more than 15 minutes in 82 in their entire career. I'm not giving up on Frank yet, cause it seems silly considering his defensive potential, and the rest of the guards on the roster who iso like there is no tomorrow are going to look real pointless once KP comes back and demands the ball.

Also that ISO passion you're talking about is the biggest issue with this team since summer league. They run no offense its everybody just get yours. **** Melo might as well have stayed if this was the offense the Knicks were going to run.

if y'all bring up Frank's defense one more time after a 0 point performance....

between Frank and Knox, at least Knox will try to score. he has bad tendencies, but Frank will literally dribble around the 3pt line like a deer in headlights. he just looks around for someone to pass to. not to make a play, but to just get rid of the ball. Knox will eventually learn, bc we've already seen it in SL. we haven't seen ANYTHING from Frank. the craziest thing he's done is score 17 points against the GSW. in two years, he's only attempted more than 15 shots TWICE. Frank has 0 aggressiveness, 0 awareness, 0 excuses. like mentioned before, he's been given many different chances in terms of minutes and when he gets those minutes. he hasn't flourished in any scenario.

speaking of missing on draft picks...the Suns might have the most lottery picks this decade and are still trash. Jackson, Warren, Booker, Ayton, Bender, Len...how are they sooooo bad?

they did good with booker and ayton everybody is meh... i knew jackson would be a bust...but at least they got 2 really good players... we just have kp and passed on mitchell last year smh... i didnt care for the knox pick and would of preferred porter jr especially since this year is a tank year anyway... coulda rolled the dice and he could come back and be good kinda like how embiid came back after 2 years... besides porter jr i dont know who else would be the sure pick of the draft after knox... the guys before our pick were pretty solid but we didnt even try to trade up

Miles, Mikal, and SGA have all showed much more flashes than Knox. MPJ was an easy pass. Hip or back surgery at that age is a major red flag.

Bad teams stay bad mainly because they cant draft. Kings, Magic, Suns, the list goes on.

Good teams draft well, add free agents, and are not in the lotto again. Nuggets (Murray + Jokic), Lakers (Dlo, Ingram, Randle, Kuz), PHI (Simmons, Embiid).
