Mia really don't have anything they can do at this point w/o Bam & Goran, they gotta just go out & give it their best but they are 1000% outmatched.

miami just not good enough to compete without bam and goran. this should be another 10+ win for the lakers
at least there's football to watch
:emoji_shrug:

congrats to the lakers for winning the inaugural covid cup
well deserved. they didn't let the 3.5 months break effect them and were ready when it mattered

So if you're Miami, what's your strategy? I don't think "we have to play perfect" is a feasible option here.

I think you have to gamble on something. You're not going to trick Lebron, but you could frustrate AD, provoke Dwight or Morris, or decide to do something like gun from Dame/Steph range and try to fly to the loose balls.

Their only hope is to shoot 50+ threes and hope they can shoot over 40%.

In that Lakers series in particular they were trapping him 35 feet out, giving the other 4 Rockets on the floor a 4 on 3 advantage. 2 defenders on the ball is what you want on every possession offensively.

Harden isn’t supposed to factor back in unless the help recovers, which it isn’t supposed to

That’s on D’Antoni and the other 4 players having a low IQ. Nobody in the dunker, nobody cutting behind the trapper.

Harden certainly could’ve attacked the rim & the trap more often, but if his teammates can’t capitalize on a 4 on 3, 3 on 2, they had no chance anyway.

Like, the Heat wouldn’t be able to just send KCPs man to trap LeBron at halfcourt all game.
🤫 you’re just giving harden another excuse

I see people in here picking THIS playoffs to finally sour on harden and I don’t understand why. This was the best he’s played in the playoffs and he torched the lakers they needed 2 players at all times for him. MDA plus the 4 other rockets on the court couldn’t capitalize on 4v3, 3v2 situations.

Absolutely fair. Imo he also wasn’t doing enough to sense the doubles coming nor being proactive in avoiding them

Felt like he just died after being doubled most of the time. He possesses the skill and instinct to beat doubles at least time to time

There’s meta to this, if he beats doubles on occasion it certainly could raise the confidence of his teammates and maybe galvanize them to start beating 4 on 3’s and this flipping the doubles on its head

The downside of acquiring a bunch of specialists

Houston had no second punch. taking the ball out of Harden's hands completely neutralized our offense, especially with Westbrook not being 100%. The rest of their guys couldn't make place for the ball in their hand. Harden didn't help by not moving with the ball.
