I GET what you ARE saying but reading this is an issue some folks have with the modern NBA play style.

I don’t think a jump shot is the modern NBA style though. It’s literally the first thing we do after picking up a basketball. If you refuse to take a jump shot or dont have a post game then how are you making 100 mill?

Doesnt matter if you can’t shoot though. Still gotta take them. He clearly can take and hit them according to those practice Vids.

So not even looking at Ben Simmons specific situation.

I was just saying (in general), the underlined portion is what many people that hate the modern NBA are seeing and complain about.

"There are a bunch of people shooting (3's in particular) that CAN'T because "da numbers" have forced most of the league into wanting to be shooters."

Strange because by most accounts Rondo is one the brightest most coachable PGs

Which might have made them dealing with each other more difficult.

Tells you more about Carlisle than anything else.

I read something years ago about how he was a total control freak--Needed everything done a certain way. Offered 0 flexibility to his players. Turned the other cheek with his star players, and came down hard on the role-players. To be fair, none of that behavior is out of the norm for most NBA coaches 15-20 years ago. But it seems the generation and times has passed him by.

Him leaving so unceremoniously was eminent. It's a players league and the coaches and staff are the one's who are expendable/dispensable.

Rondo was supposedly on his way out of the league when he was in Dallas. I remember he walked out of a game one night

Carlisle is part of the old-school NBA coaching circle. There seems to be a generational disconnect with him and the new young players coming into the league. This was inevitable at some point.

Rick is a great X and O coach but he's hard to deal with. He's an ******* by nature and a control freak.

He's legitimately beefed over control of the offense with every starting point guard he ever had in Dallas.

Him and J Kidd worked it out and I guess JJ Barea.

Luka never rocked with Rick like that and with all these decent jobs available he saw the writing on the wall.

Man had a meeting with the coaching staff to see if they should let Luka keep shooting step back 3's :lol

It'll ALWAYS end up the same way. The coach will almost always be the one to leave.

When stories like this pop up from time to time, I always think back to Jerry Sloan and Deron Williams. The man was coaching the Jazz for 80 years and started beefing with D. Will and retired.

I can see the Wade and Mitchell comparison, Mitchells a much better shooter though.

Ja like Westbrook cause he just tries to yam everything?

Book dont got the defensive mindset Kobe had, hear people compare Tatum more to Kobe than Book. The mid game is nice, I woudnt call it Kobe wise though.

Bron and Luka? Eh

Curry and Trae the easiest to draw lines to.

More low hanging fruit/terrible discourse.

I lose faith every damn day.

Rondo is headstrong himself, so it led to them butting heads. And that's not even getting into the stylistic difference. I believe before the Mavs traded for Rondo, they were leading the league in Offensive Efficiency (and challenging the all time record at the time).

As a Lakers fan, this reminds me of those videos Julius Randle put out every summer where he was knocking down threes and we would get so excited only for him to shoot 30% once the season started... Eventually he got it though, so who knows 🤷🏿‍♂️

I think Ben Simmons primary issue is mental. He's just afraid of being ridiculed for missing jump shots so he'd rather not try

He was knocking down shots in summer league

Rick was also the only one between Mark, him and Donnie that didn't want the trade.

Apparently Dirk wanted Rondo so they did it against Rick's wishes

Kawhi will be back. Trust me.

Dr. freeze freeze has spoken. :nthat:

Rick Carlisle is 61 years old

He's been in the league since 1984, had been coaching for 32 years, won an NBA championship, coached a MVP. Coached against all-time talents. He's had a HELL of a career.

It's time to begin the next phase of his life. Go into consulting, advising, broadcasting, analyzing. He should be excited for the future.

When we drafted Dennis I said Rick should retire or move on, it wasn't about Dennis either, Rick just ain't the type to coach a young team.

Mavs fans told me I was crazy.

Rick is in a weird spot because he always releases those over the top statements when a coach gets fired, now if he takes the Indiana or Milwaukee jobs he'll look like a hypocrite
