Manziel saying it was dumb of Sumlin to not name Murray the QB day 1.

Also sounds like he's trying to say he recruited Kyler to A&M.

Also called Sumlin a hypocrite and telling him to live a certain type of way but said Sumlin was in the club right next to him doing the same things.

Sumlin was definitely a clown

What sense does THIS make? Just move the December period to August and keep February. (Though early December and a spring date would actually be more in line with the regular student calendar)

And …

If what Johnny is saying is true and all his dad asked for was $3M and that would guarantee Texas A&M two more years of Johnny Manziel (what would have been his red shirt sophomore and red shirt junior years of college) and Kevin Sumlin turned that down then that is an old time fumble.

Some of these college coaches are so arrogant that they believe they are more important than any player.

The NFL has largely always been a more desireable coaching job, but all college coaches can’t hack it on that level. Saban is literally the greatest coach of our time and flamed out and ran back to Bama, which wasn’t even one of the top programs in CFB at that time. Spurrier flopped and ran back to CFB too. For a position coach, I’d absolutely prefer to coach in the league. Just off the fact that you don’t have to recruit. People are galaxy braining this discussion.

We've talked about it at length in this thread but most college football coaches are not good coaches, they've mastered navigating the college ecosystem (recruiting, motivation, fundraising for facilities, general management) but very few of them are elite X's and O's guys.

Most elite college football coaches are better recruiters than they are coaches. They are so used to out talenting their opponents that they are bewildered when they have to coach teams with similar talent in the NFL. When Urban Meyer was coaching the jaguars he said "The NFL is like playing Alabama every week" 😂. He literally wasn't used to playing on an even playing field from a talent perspective.

This is why so many of them struggle in the NFL.

From a skill set perspective, you can make the argument that most college football coaches are closer to high school coaches than they are NFL coaches. That authoritarian, "my way or the highway" stuff works in high school and college but you won't last long with that mindset in the NFL.

It is funny that most of the innovative concepts that the NFL ends up utilizing comes from smaller schools or the low to mid majors. Those coaches have to work with less to get more. The Bama's, tOSU's, and Michigan's of the world can just line up and beat you running vanilla stuff because they are bigger, faster and stronger.

You will not be able to create a player who chooses to not be in the game

Eric took a risk that backfired on him. Went from a Super Bowl winning NFL OC interviewing for NFL head coaching jobs to the OC of one of the worst teams in P5. Cold world.
His offense at Washington was also dreadful.

They went 6 straight games without a first quarter touchdown last season.

About to create Finn Ewers, Chadeur Sanders, Trevor Hunter.

Honestly though the players have no leverage in a situation. 99% of college football players have no NIL value from the perspective of marketing and selling a video game and this game has sold well in the past without having a single player name in it.

Danny Kanell said he never got a phone call or a check, so there may not be historic teams either. Maybe former legends a la ultimate team, but no 1993 noles team.

Warner trying to excuse his bad CJ Stroud take.

He also said when Slovis was in HS that he would be a top draft pick because he was an elite QB (Warner was his HS OC). Said if Slovis doesn't excel in college it will be the coach's fault, not Slovis.

I tried to find the old thread but couldn't, so I made a new one

These people that always try to criticize college football like that and pretends it’s beneath them are such clowns. It’s also not a college coaches job to have those players NFL ready, their job is to win games and the other stuff comes secondary. How much can these coaches really prepare college athletes for the pros when they are there for typically 3 years and play for maybe 2?
