How long before the BigTen/SEC form their own division?
Serious question... why would and should the B1G do this?

The past two years of realignment have benefited them and hurt their direct rivals the SEC and ESPN. I get that it would equal even more money but you know what else would do that? Let the SEC flounder a few years, claim the title of best conference and then pick off the ACC and Texas A&M.

I don't see the committee allowing the SEC to fall off and both conferences seem to have large input on the playoff discussions. They both have large brands in CFB that aren't leaving either conference.

Except last year's final had 25.1M viewers. So again when comparing specific tv events, viewership is down compared to a season ago. And that's with maybe the two biggest brands in the sport involved.
But comparing it to other non-NFL events over the last year seems more important? People are consuming sports in a different way in general and the game wasn’t even a good game tbh. Biggest non-NFL viewership over the last year. I just think the “NIL and transfer portal is ruining the game” stuff is completely overblown and the numbers mostly back it up.

I think the only thing that’ll hurt CFB ratings is Michigan doesn't make it in.

Fixed.

They carried Washington past Notre Dame and Ohio State? I mean, come on.

Now, JH is no longer in the picture, but swap Michigan for either team here and we're looking at #1 all time ratings.

It's an okay number. The college football season going into the second week of the NFL playoffs isn't good for business. It always amazes me how much bigger the NFL is than college football.

Growing up in Georgia, I would have constantly told you that college football is more popular than the NFL (because it is more popular than the NFL in my area). It wasn't until I joined the Navy and moved to Rhode Island did I realize that the majority of the country doesn't care about college football at all.
