What's the deal with ALD adjustable hat sizing? Heard it's very inconsistent, but they typically run small/shallow? As someone with a slightly big head is the only hat I'm safe buying one that explicitly says "low-profile silhouette" in its description?

I just bought some stuff at the ALD online shop, one of em being the new era fitted NY cap and found out later that it says to downsize 1 from my usual size for better fit? Anyone who has bought one could chime in?
