Yeah there's a lot of lore with these especially with folks who were into co.jp's, regional exclusive, etc back in the early 2000's. They're definitely a cult classic.

Lots missed out on these back then.....and then chased them for years without luck. The colors on Ronnie Fieg's version were off, so those were just meh. Now's truly the 1st time in over 2 decades to own them. They've become more than just the colorway.

Totally. I think if there's any kids or younger people reading this, imagine loving Sneakers but not being able to read NT Forums, not having Podcasts, Instagram posts and on top of that, not having online stores where you can just click buy (If you have the cash) and these shoes turn up on your doorstep.

It's amazing how much the sneaker game has moved on from the early days in the 80's where I only saw kicks in magazines, then the 90's it was music video, and all I had to go on was hoping they would turn up in a shop. Then the 00's was the early days of online shopping and then the 10's really made Sneakers accessible to everyone, with reveals happening online, along with shopping for them.

In some ways, I do miss seeing Sneakers in music videos, talking with mates in the School guessing what they were and (For me) only being able to buy them when I turned 16 as I got a part time job, and catching the Train to London to got to the Nike Shop and finally, being able to start seeing Sneakers in person.

Yeah, the early days of my time on NT were wild. At that time, if you didn’t live in/near a major city (basically NYC, L.A. or Chicago), you were pretty much reliant on someone helping you out, or going the eBay route. Online releases just weren’t much of a thing outside of the big retailers. Hell, I remember sending money orders for pairs purchased on eBay. MONEY ORDERS. THROUGH THE MAIL.

So having co.jp pairs release now AND actually being able to get them is amazing. So many of these older pairs were basically unattainable for me because I was a broke *** college student at the time, and size 11s (in the co.jps) were far and few between. I’m just glad that nowadays even if I strike out at retail, all I gotta do is pull my phone out and buy a pair with ease on the aftermarket.

Who remembers the 2000s when online shopping was around but Nike didn’t allow anyone to sell AF1s online? It didn’t matter what colorway you wanted, in store was the only option for years. What year did they finally lift that restriction? 08? 09?

I would've assumed these are a familia pair but the box gives cotm vibes. Interesting.

I wouldn't cop due to the midsole but its good to see a creative pair.
