Official Air Jordan 1 Mid Thread Vol: Not The Best Model/Thread

Been wearing these to work for about two weeks now. Decided not to bother painting them since they'd get beat to hell. Will post a pic whenever I clean them to see how easy it is but with this hard material, I don't expect much difficulty

LAWD.....when I took these ASWs out of the box, they definitely had a very strong smell to them. I was skeptical about these since I am not a big fan of patent leather, but since they were $125 and I had a $25 off $125 code from Hibbett's, I pulled the trigger. They are cool, but I am wondering if I should use white laces or just keep the black laces in them.

White looks nice. You have a pic of the black?

EXACTLY! I would like it a lot more if it was all carbon fiber print on it personally.
Same. Would've given it a unique flavor.

That's how they do mids. I'm not opposed to buying a pair. But every pair I'd consider has a questionable panel on it.

was bored yesterday, ended up getting around to flipping the lace loop panels to black to match the high tops (blue still otherwise “DS”)

process:
1. mask off everything using some masking tape and plastic bags
2. prep the panels by rubbing them down with q tips soaked in acetone (nail polish remover)
3. paint it black (angelus flat black leather acrylic leather paint, 2-3 coats)
4. clear coat (rustoleum matte clear spray)
5. MASK OFF
6. paint touch ups with a toothpick

the masking i did was probably a little overkill for the job but it was necessary for me to be able to use the spray can of clear coat i had on hand

the clear coat i used is NOT recommended for pliable materials like the leathers on shoes, but since it’s such a small panel in a place that doesn't bend much, it shouldn’t be a problem

I used finisher to protect the paint. Do you not apply anything? I'll sacrifice 1-for-1 match on the sheen over poor wear-n-tear over time.

What I do is add duller to the finisher because those labels lie lol they are all way too shiny the matte is not matte at all. one thing to do is shake that finisher for a while longer than normal . those dulling pigments will settle to the bottom of the jar you can even see them in the jar if you look before you shake.

Finally got around to sewing on some tongue tags to complete the mid to bred conversion.

and after looking at the pics I took I just realized that I forgot to make the top stitch extend to entire length of the tongue. Tomorrow’s project lol

Okay, so these have some of THE BEST quality I have seen on a Mid ever (and honestly better than a good amount of the OG Highs too)! It sucks that these seem to not have been available in the US (I get it though since the CW has aspects of the Jordan XXXV Paris and those were only available in Europe), but it was well worth buying these from somebody in the UK who was able to cop my size from Nike GB.
