I had assumed that whomever made the mockups had actually seen the shoes. If this isn’t the case then I stand corrected.

No. They just get the model, style number, and colors.
They literally take stock Jordan silhouette mockups like these
and then copy the colors from existing Jordans onto their pallette tool, and Photoshop them on. This is why the color shade or color blocking on mockups are often proven wrong when the official pics start to leak.
If it's a shoe that's already retro'd obviously the job is much easier because you have something to work from, but even then differences arise, i.e the mockups of TBIII had blue tongue collar like 2011 while TBIII 2016 had a red tongue collar like the OG.
if its a Retro+ they're just using the colors, which have obviously released on tons of different shoes are so are available to copy, and making educated guesses.

I'll wait until we see actual pics to make my final judgement. Some of these color combinations aren't the worse, and often mock ups can really screw up the actual color blocking.

Leather quality on these is really high imo. I know people use SBB for reference, but you will not be disappointed with these! And at that price, excellent buy!
