i'm in my late 20's, i prefer 90's HK action movies > 2000's and 2010's +
Eh, Tony Jaa coulda been the one a while back but he just fell off. Part crazy part crappy movies. And the fact that Rza is in this movie promises it'll be trash LolThe Protector 2 trailer. Not sure when it comes out though.
Yeah, it's an ok movie. People seem to love it because of the concept and that it's Japanese. I watched it when I was in high school and thought some of the characters were really cool. The sequel was awful.
I know people who flat out hate Hunger Games just because they are fans of BR.
Damn, boy... you got your HK-flicks game down. For some reason, youtube's share option keeps showing the progress circle spinning so I can't post trailers. Some movies I'd recommend that haven't been mentioned are anything from director Wong Kar-Wai like Chungking Express, In The Mood for Love , & Days of Being Wild (among others). Can't wait for Grand Master.
I'd also recommend Election by director Johnnie To & A Bittersweet Life by director Kim Jee-Woon. Both were excellent movies. Also recommend Outrage & Outrage Beyond starring Takeshi Kitano. That dude is a boss.
Forgot to add one more recommend, a Japanese movie called Quill about a seeing eye dog & his blind owner's refusal at first to using him. Very touching story about the bond they develop. My 9 year old son loved the movie too.
Indeed... I grew up with his tunes... RIP.A Better Tomorrow, as in the Hong Kong version? Classic IMO.
Leslie Cheung was that dude

wait so the books ripped off a movie? cuz ive heard this complaint before, but people were attacking the movie not the books...which makes utterly no sense.
I saw BR back in the day and when I heard about The Hunger Games movie, that was what immediately popped in my mind... that it sounded similar to BR. I'm sure I wasn't the only one.wait so the books ripped off a movie? cuz ive heard this complaint before, but people were attacking the movie not the books...which makes utterly no sense. You talking about Battle Royale? Thanks for the recommendations OP. Shogun Assassin - I've never seen the movie but know what you're talking about because it's a sample in the beginning of 4th Chamber on GZA's Liquid Swords album. My co-worker & I were talking about this thread & he asked me if I remembered a movie. I couldn't recall the name of it, but it sounds so familiar. An assassin kills his mark but couldn't kill the person's child. He takes the child & ends up teaching it to be an assassin. There was a scene where he laid out a toy & a sword/knife & the kid went for the sword/knife. Anyone know what movie he's talking about?
