you can also send your wire in CAD. Just make sure your intermediary bank won't change it to JPY or USD, because they will eat you with the exchange rate.
But once your money is on Kraken, you'll have to change it to USD for a few crypto. I don't know their rates but I can get market rate here so I prefer to have control and change it here to USD before I send it to the platform.

I've experienced a couple of hours at the most for a transfer but have heard others experiencing a couple of minutes to a couple of days according to the Reddit gang.

I hope I did it right. I went to Binance and it made that QR code for you to send money to, copied that, then went to Coinbase and went to send, paste that in the address and selected all my BTC. It shows as sent/pending in Coinbase and not at all in Binance
edit: Ok it made it through but Gold damn those "network fees" just negated any purpose of doing this.
