We should’ve gotten the Manga arcs animated. Would’ve helped their video game, merchandise, etc.
The manga has been in hiatus. Give us Black Freeza, a short Universe 6 Saiyan arc and wrap it up with another universal arc.
Then they can sail off into the sunset with movies.
This show seems to be My First Dragon Ball for new fans. I’m not against it. Just upset about what they left on the table.

Actually liked the first episode. Animation was on point. Seems like they arent taking this show too seriously and its more like "Adventures of Goku and friends" type of thing. We'll see how the rest of it shapes up.

Nah, english dub is gonna be on both...........but the dub is coming out later in November for BOTH PLATFORMs.
Netflix is getting their own broadcast of Daima starting on the 18th of this month instead, but it is no different than the Crunchyroll release. The reason why their releasing on 2 platforms is because Crunchyroll's broadcast of Daima is restricted from being broadcasted in certain Asian countries (including Japan, due to Japan's own Fuji TV having the TV broadcast rights of the show there). Whereas with Netflix, it'll allow DB Daima to be broadcast globally to all countries.........especially those restricted Asian countries and Japan where they are not able to watch on Crunchyroll.

In Z, it was because of Buu's stomach acid/gas/etc. Which makes sense cuz it was magic on magic.
In Super, it made the fusion only last an hour for non-Gods, but Kaioshin and Kibito defused too, which I don't think was ever explained. At this point, canon doesn't matter. Give me good fights and animation of that last two archs of Super.

In general I don't like Dragon Ball Super that much. Certain concepts I enjoyed like the idea of a multiversal tournament, the Broly movie was amazing, Beast Gohan, SSGSS, etc, but I feel like overall Super does somewhat of a disservice to the original run of the DB manga.
I'm probably gonna yap a bit but here's my reasoning.
They picked the worst possible time period. The ten year time skip between Buu and the end of DBZ was to my understanding a decade of peace for Earth.
But thanks to Super we have had Beerus, Freeza, Goku Black, Broly, Moro, Granolah, Freeza(again) and Cell Max pull up. Plus the threat of universal erasure via the tournament. Even you cut the number of threats in half, this is a WILD lineup for Goku to be saying some **** like this at the end of Z:
Peace WHERE bruh???
When Super was announced I felt that post DBZ (and replacing GT) would be the ideal format for DB stories and still do. At the end of Z we are spoon fed a fresh faced young hero (Uub) with an interesting backstory (Buu reincarnated) who Goku explicitly stated is the next up for protector of Earth or w/e. He was basically a fraud in GT, so this was the ideal opportunity to focus on new arcs and progress the timeline.
Concepts like Beerus, Whis, multiverse are all interesting but the placement in the timeline and overall execution I'm not a fan of.
The worst offense for me is probably the Goku Black arc. Pretty much everything about Trunks' conclusion in DBZ is thrown out the window and ruined. After Cell Trunks goes back to his own time and claps the androids, helps his mom rebuild and then claps Cell. His final line is a thank you to Goku for making this possible. Trunks is on his grown man ish and ready to rebuild the future on his own.
No **** you Goku Black kills everyone in Trunks' timeline and he literally has to come crawling back in the time machine to beg Goku for help again. Never mind all the time ring/timeline/Zamasu/if you kill Kaioshin you kill Beerus so there's no easy solution nonsense, there isn't even a satisfying conclusion to this arc because all the mortals in Trunks' timeline die anyway? And he has to go live in yet ANOTHER timeline where there is already an adult Trunks?

I could say more but I've ranted enough.
Again I still think Toriyama was in his creative bag with regards to designs, transformations, etc. But the story just was never compelling to me.
So far I'm enjoying Daima for what it is.

Over all im not too mad at Super. I think a good 75% of the lore/ expansion of the lore is solid and adds a lot of depth to stuff that GT never touched and the guidebooks along with dragon ball online never really flesh out. I can agree that there are some execution downfalls and creative choices i was not a fan of, but over all I look at Super pretty favorably and depending how the story continues could resolve some of the issues i have. I’m more partial to the manga than the anime but the anime has some epic moments that get replay value to me. Some of my high lights
- the introduction of god ki, gods of destruction, the link to supreme Kai‘s and the overall fleshing out of non mortal charcters
- Universes 6 vs universe 7. Specifically Hit vs Goku and Kaioken x SSB. In Japanese that was just epic to watch
- Golden frieza + the aspect of him training + black frieza
- The multiverse, TOP, Ultrainstic‘s first appearance
- Goku, Frieza, and 17 vs Jiren might be one of my favorite all time DBZ fights
- Brolys reintroduction
- Beast Gohan and orange piccolo

Legit impossible to work Uub into this story. This is legitimate a timeline diveregnece is very weird.
They also didn't do enough with any of the Villians. Freiza is back. I get it. But now Freiza is like Bowser, and its weird. Freiza tries to kill them, they kill him once. They then ASK FRIEZA FOR HELP, and he closes an Arc working together with Goku. Then he tries to get them killed again, they have to fuse to beat Broly and they legit say "You stay right there Freiza we'll deal with you later". Frieza gets away somehow. Now Freiza is back and he's stronger than ever, but nothing will happen to him cause he's Bowser now. I hate it.
Goku Black was the most creative villain they had. They botched with so much Zamasu. The arc is so short you get such a limited backstory. IDK why I was supposed to care so much. This reimagining of Trunks is lame. DBS Trunks is lame. He whines nonstop.
Jiren is ok I guess. People like Jiren, I get it.
They finally bring Cell Back, but make Cell Bio Broly, the worst DB movie.
I don't even care about Animation that much, but DB makes so much money and some really lazy stuff has happened. Playing in peoples faces.

The Goku Black thing is the wildest part of it to me. Best DB Villain concept since Cell. Could easily been structured like the Cell Arc.
Somehow "Evil Goku" was too hard to figure out. Just like how "Using the DragonBalls too much has consequences" was too hard to figure out. Madness.
It really isn't hard. An Evil Goku opens the door for Vegeta to fight Goku to the death and keep his moral compass right. Make him just as strong as Goku. Everything the same. Thats a better idea than the contrived nonsense we got.

So I actually have issues with the manga.
Especially after this movie:
Probably was the first major continuity issue in a long time. Frieza is clearly resurrected sort of acknowledging the TOP. But Goku doesn’t turn to UI? It would have concluded the battle without the fusion (which I guess wasn’t cannon before).
Then we get to the following arcs. No Broly who is probably the strongest. They come up with the Dufus UE. Then all of the Moro, etc and concluding with Black Frieza. We never got the Universe 6 revisit. Nor a bigger universal threat. And then the last movie casually says Gotham is the strongest after fighting a Godzilla Cell.
I was cool with it up to Broly IF they had included UI. And that was it. But the manga just muddied the waters further along with the Super Hero Movie.
But I’m not mad. I’m happy to get new Dragon Ball. Even Dana.

Also I never believed there was 10 years of peace with Goku still around. Around the Cell games when Goku sacrificed himself when he didn’t need to for Gohan to step up I liked the idea of he did it cuz stronger and stronger foes keep coming to earth cuz they’re metaphorically attracted to fighting the strongest (Goku). So when Beerus and Frieza and canon Broly show up it made sense to me. Granolah is the type of story you can plug in anywhere given it’s about the evil **** saiyans did. Probably could’ve been a movie.
Plus the majority of the threats aren’t really a threat to (just) Earth. So technically it’s been pretty peaceful. Only Beerus (if you believe he would’ve destroyed earth if Goku didn’t produce a SS god), Freeza (if you ever believe he had a chance of beating Goku again), and Cell Max were specific threats to earth. Everyone and everything else was a threat to the universe or a different timeline.
I agree about replacing GT but apparently that’s kinda canon now. I’ve accepted that.
I agree and don’t agree about Trunks. It definitely did look sorry that Trunks had to crawl back begging Goku for help again but I understood it given his situation
If you want a happy ending it was a big **** you but I’ve always been way more interested in Trunks timeline for several reasons. One it’s basically a cursed timeline where death is permanent and the majority of the main cast is wiped out. Trunks doesn’t even have his own Z crew. It’s literally him by himself with human help. Goku would go from arc to arc fighting enemies and eventually turn one or two former foes in to allies. Trunks doesn’t even have android 16 to help him out. I mean in that quick montage it was shown he linked up with Kaioshin to take care of Babidi but there isn’t even a protector of his earth like Kame that can warn him about oncoming threats. Is Korin even alive? Mans just got Yajirobe. Plus ain’t like he ever thought to go to Namek and maybe get namekian to come back with him.
So to me that was always the theme of Trunks’ timeline. It’s way more hardcore and dead means dead. Also it’s always a threat Goku never faced that wiped out everybody. Trunks handled the Buu problem where he wasn’t even let out and apparently Moro never breaks out (yet), Broly still stranded on that planet by himself, and Granolah doesn’t or couldn’t get revenge. So enter Zamasu/Goku Black, a divine being to **** **** up.
I’m also way more interested in that ending where Trunks survives with his mom and Mai (and w/e else survivors) in a new timeline where there’s already a Trunks there. Basically a fresh start defending Earth with some help.
Plus if we being honest Super in many ways just rehashed Z ****. Not a lot of clever writing. Just redo Cell, redo Frieza, redo and make Broly canon, redo a tournament on a grander scale, and redo a magic threat. So of course redoing Trunks returning from the future was gonna happen. They just couldn’t really redo the Saiyan saga and didn’t redo some sort of android threat
I’m not sure Trunks ever is gonna just live in peace. The demon realm probably gonna invade his timeline and he gonna show up in Daima begging for help.

Vegeta had his shot in the Buu arc. The creator doesn’t really care to give Vegeta that sort of spotlight.
No arc is ending with Vegeta as the hero that saves the day.
I mean even as is it was Trunks that killed Fused Zamasu since it was him that was again the underdog hero trying to protect his timeline. Zamasu using a Captain Ginyu tactic being defeated by Vegeta just cuz he’s in Goku’s body doesn’t really have the same worth cuz it’s not even close to being the same Goku.
For a story like that you’d simply need a timeline where Kakkarot never bumped his head or an actual evil Goku. No body swap or body possession or Goku look alike. Just make him a bad guy that rules over earth and have him fight Vegeta that’s actually changed and grown but like I said they don’t seem interested in telling that story.
They never should’ve brought Frieza back.
He should’ve stayed dead after Future Trunks killed him.
They should’ve invited Perfect Cell. His comeback would’ve made that trash Superheroes movie better. The main reason I’m not impressed or even believe Beast Gohan is that strong is cuz of him fighting some lame *** second transformation giant sized Cell and not perfect Cell. **** like Orange Piccolo just seems like an *** pull.
