But here's the thing, GT Franchise have betting getting Car licenses for years. So all of a sudden they are in the hole? That doesn't make sense itself. And if what you are saying is true, what is your source?Originally Posted by DMasta718
And so they arent put into a hole with the game because its a first party developer?Originally Posted by bballah3
The people who make GT series, Polyphony Digital, is a first party studio meaning that they are developers under Sony. All First-party studio games are paid for by Sony. So just because they got a Ferrari for 20 mill doesn't mean nothing. Sony pays for it all.Originally Posted by DMasta718

And this Gran Tourismo PSP is a gimmick by the Gran Tourismo people because they are millions in debt and have no way to make their money back off of PS3 games alone. Hell, just to get the Ferrari lisence they paid like 20 million.Thats what you are trying to argue? That makes no sense.
If anything else they have a bigger deficit because it directly is involved with Sony instead of another developer.
They have to renew each license with each game. So they basically start from zero with each new GT that they start production on. Im not sayingthe overall franchise is in a hole....Im saying the game, GT5, and its production are in the hole. Now, if you release a PSP version, a Prologue of the actualgame and then the real game...you have multiple chances to earn your money on this project. Its not a bad thing im not bashing it, I just dont like gimmicks. The Prologue was a gimmick to earn a little money back from what they had already spent. The PSP version just makes me feel the same way. If that doesn'tconnect with you then I don't know how else to explain it.
And my source is a family friend who is very high up at SOE.
