Madrid need another striker, but their roster right now is good enough to go get one for ~$30M and wait a year for Mbappe and still compete. Assuming that is the long term plan. But if Mbappe isn't seen as the answer and you want a true #9 anyway then yeah drop the cash on Kane. But they are Real Madrid. Can't they just go get Firmino or Havertz or Vlhovic or Larturo or grab Moussa Dembele for free. Anything to just stop gap until you get Mbappe next year and figure it out.

That's what I would think. Why spend anything on Mbappe when you can get him free? Sign a stop gate like Firmino and wait. Firmino/Rodrygo/Joselu should be decent enough to hold you over. You could still get Kane but then you can't play Vini/Mbappe in the benzema/ronaldo switching lanes role.

Jude is a great signing, but that supposed new midfield three would be lacking that conductor element that Modric and Kross provided. Would want at least one of those types in midfield.
