Stu Holden was speaking truth last night, no clue how these guys got the 'golden generation' moniker without doing anything unprecedented yet.

Should be reserved for if and when they actually do something

I apologize in advance to all of the neutrals watching the Portugal vs France game on Friday. Can’t wait for 90+ minutes of Martinez vs. Deschamps “tactics”

Hate sounding repetitive, but many US fans and management have the have an unhealthy obsession with Mexico. Now that they finally beat the worst Mexico team in history consistently, they believe that this US generation is superior to the past ones and have progressed.

This is a great point. The USSF measures progress by the wrong things and that’s whats lead to these ridiculous top down decisions. They measure it being better than Mexico and the best team in the North America’s like that matter’s. Stupid things like the gold cup reinforcing that like winning that means anything to progress. Mexican federation does the same too tbf cares more about being big fish in a small pond and selling tickets to fans in the states from my point of view than what’s best for their football.

No one else does this, England don’t measure their success by being the best team in the United Kingdom, when Croatia where doing so well the last 10ish years they didn’t measure that by being the best team in the Balkans. It’s about wanting to be the best period.

Who cares about being the best team in North America it doesn’t mean anything strive to be the best team in the Americas that actually means something.

Get rid of CONCACAF too. Try to actually merge with Comnebol. You already play a Dopa with them every couple years

Yea you might not make the World Cup anymore. But what’s the point of making it when you don’t even deserve to be there anyway?

At least you’ll play better competition and stop comparing yourself to the hellscape that is Mexican football.

Agreed. If you have to constantly do mathematical equations and hope for other countries to take it easy on you to make it out of group stages, why even show up? Hate that weak @$&& so much.

If you don’t have the talent, you have to go back to the win at all costs mentality that these other teams throughout Latin America have. Sure, they complain about referees and pitch conditions after the match too, but they don’t give up on trying to win just because things aren’t going their way.

USA fans were crying about Araujo bullying players throughout the night, meanwhile Barça fans are praising him and hoping he can bring that intensity this upcoming season (without stupid red cards). To Americans that type of physicality is “unfair” and dirty, but you need players like that if you want to win.

CONMEBOL should not merge with CONCACAF. None of those teams are seeing 🇧🇷, 🇦🇷,🇺🇾,🇨🇴 or🇻🇪 and will finish below all of them come WCQ time. CONCACAF needs to pick itself by the bootstraps

Kids hardly play pickup soccer or even futsal across the country. Hell, if you’re in a U.S. youth team or MLS academy, you can’t even play school ball, which is like two months.

The sport is so centralized here and the entity controlling it has a thousand conflict of interests, placing actual development/talent identification lower than it needs to be. US Soccer is better at branding than actually playing, and it’s been that way for a long time…
man all the nice fields are locked up and kids don't have access
the park fields are usually horrible and have holes
easier to play other sports
barrier to entry for soccer is high in the US

Great block to stop that ball from getting to Memphis for the 2nd

Dutch looking for the killshot early

Memphis is the striker but it feels like he's their main big match player nowadays.

He's been a baller whenever he puts on the Oranje kits, especially at major tourneys
Up until this cycle I was worried where the goals would come from now that Memphis is slowing down. Cody stepping up big time. If Simons reaches his potential we might be okay in the WC, attacking-wise.
