nike has realized there's not really any value in paying any substantial money for footballers. they don't help you really sell anything unless theyre a top 20ish player in the world with mass appeal off the field. there's no shoe to sell a non player, not really much merch either. the only people that will possibly buy because of them are kids who want to play like them. even then it's not worth paying millions to most of these guys. all they needed was mbappe, haaland, vinicius and musiala for the next few years and they're pretty much covered
