**Official Kendrick Lamar Thread 4th Studio Album ''DAMN.''Out Now**

I done smoked like half a zip playing this **** since it dropped..This his second best album behind GKMC.

Fear
DNA
Element
Duckworth
Humble

My top 5 but I'm feeling all the tracks, I dont like the production on YAH but the lyrics make up for it...

"I'm a Israelite don't call me black no more"

Kendrick took Dex lil "Huh" adlib on that God track

Rhianna got off on Loyalty

"What happens on Earth stays on Earth"

The ending of the intro scared the **** outta me for some reason lol
Went out to smoke a tad, and threw on DNA.

I really had no choice but to keep walking and smoking until the album was done.
But, if I can smoke fear away , I'd roll that mother_ up,.... And I take twooo puffs

probably got the wrong person. i remember reading someone removed fear from the album maybe it was a different song

Y'all think when he 'starts over' after "hold up" on Lust is a nod to Nas?

TPAB is musically too advanced for majority of his fans

:lol :lol this statement is as awful as J Cole fans that say you need a Master's to understand his music

It's not awful by any means. You have a lot of mental midgets who can't comprehend TPAB or even appreciate the music. People get offended quick when they get exposed for their listening limitations.

Man...what? :lol

As if he's speaking another language or something :rollin

Just enjoy the music fam

You act like everyone who listens to his music is woke or can relate to what he's saying. You sound foolish and naive with that "as if he is speaking another language". He's speaking to a certain demographic who can relate and I definitely enjoy the music.

I think most of K. Dot's music is easily accessible if you just listen. He does have more than just surface level stuff in his music for sure but I think saying you have to be 'woke' or a higher intelligence to comprehend is a bit much.

Alright man you got it. I just think thats a common statement when someone doesn't like or enjoy Kendricks music "it has layers, you need to be this intellegent to understand it" etc.

Most people like music 1st based on the sound so when you get something that sounds completely different from what everything else at the time is, there's going to be some blowback. Even though that sound is etched in the foundations of hip hop. I partly think that's why everyone is ******* with DAMN. so heavy in comparison to TPAB which had a much higher divide from the masses. The lyrics, messages, etc. are still top quality but it just 'sounds better'.

I wait in front a ****** spot and watch him hit his block
I catch a ***** leavin service if that's all I got
I chip a *****, then throw the blower in his lap
Walk myself to the court like, "*****, I did that."
Ain't no Black Power when your baby killed by a coward
I can't even keep the peace, don't you **** with one of ours
It be murder in the street, it be bodies in the hour
Ghetto bird be on the street, paramedics on the dial
Let somebody touch my mama
Touch my sister, touch my woman
Touch my daddy, touch my niece
Touch my nephew, touch my brother
You should chip a *****, then throw the blower in his lap
Matter fact, I'm bout to speak at this convention

Word. The one's who act like Kendrick is only for advanced listeners are just as corny as the ones who act like you can't enjoy him because he's not on the same **** as his peers. Just enjoy the music man, he's currently on a great run.

Damn so kendrick fans really think you have to have some higher level of intelligence to listen to his music?

:lol

Nah you don't have to be smart or anything to enjoy Kendrick's music

But Kendrick is smarter than the average rapper :lol

LUST is an amazing piece of work. That chorus is brilliant.

What makes it (and alot of his other music) so great is he doesn't spoon
feed you his message. He makes a great sounding song with great lyrics
on the surface. But when you unpack the themes, arrangement, the over
arching elements of the record, you find that theres so much more intention
and thought there for the listeners to ponder.

This kid is blowing speakers and minds at the same damn time :x

Nobody said Kendrick is only for advanced listeners. Let's not pretend that he isn't speaking to a specific demographic when he's making his music. I personally enjoy the music he makes because I am in that demographic. Now if someone who has never been near the environment Kendrick is from yet can appreciate his music, that's great. As an artist his main goal is to reach and breakthrough to as many listeners as possible. With that being said, if someone who has no connection to where he is coming from or his struggle critizes his best body of work (TPAB) because they can't "groove" to it, that is an individual who's corny af.

I'm pretty sure he said on a few occasions he makes music for dudes that are locked up. So I'm not sure what demographic you're zeroing in on.

He makes music for his people and individuals that live the lifestyle and can relate to his topics. That is his demographic. :lol @ your making music for people that are locked up, like that's all he is targeting.

So you really gonna paint the entire fan base like that just because of one dude's opinion?

Didn't say that's all he's targeting but he's mentioned them specifically on different occasions. His music definitely can have universal appeal, especially if you're talking about this album. This is his most relatable about at its core what it means to be human.

When you're a corny, woke, Harvard educated, Compton native with at least 5 felonies, thats's intellectually superior to everyone in the multiverse :smokin

I agree that this album has a lot wider appeal than TPAB. I think we can all agree in here that Kendrick is a great artist and I'm glad that this album has had the positive feedback it's receiving.
