OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2024-2025 SEASON THREAD

Sindarius getting more and more reps, looking confident. Awesome to see.

Wes also balling tonight so far. Don’t want to jinx, but think he finally knows exactly who he is and what he does well.

Clips ball movement is partly due to the cavs being awful defensively but nevertheless, it's really good to see the ball whipping around.

LOL. Came in to say this. Blake has been garbage in the 4th and OT.

Ya know, you want to say coaching but NBA basketball tells / show you that down the stretch of tough / close games, sets get blown up. Down the stretch of games, your "guy" is supposed to carry you home and he's just...man.

Great effort by the guys out there tonight. Blake tried really hard and we almost won the game. I think we'll have a good shot to win our next game.

Go Clips!!

I’m not sure I can agree fully. Yeah, Blake was bad, but he’s also looking like he’s still overthinking things when the game gets tight. I’d like to at least see if another coach can help fix that. If I was Blake’s coach, I wound drill into his head, “don’t hesitate. Don’t be scared. Shoot if your open or go to the basket. No fall aways. No hooks. If you go to the basket and turn it over, it’s ok. As long as your aggressive and attacking.”

Maybe Doc has told him all that, but doesn’t look like it.

I'm pretty sure every coach would tell Blake those things down the stretch, including doc but when you're faced with resistance as a player, and you're not confident, you go back to things that are easy to do, things you're most comfortable with, which is what I think you're seeing with blake.

No matter the coach, down the stretch of games things become extremely simple. PnR into Isolation, or straight isolation. For every team, even the warriors. I don't think a coach can change Blake Griffin's 1v1 game, or his decisions that he makes down the stretch of games. That's on him. The caca that he's throwing up is not on Doc, that's on him. The airballs, the bad decisions, that's on him.

A big part of it is that he still isn't the most confident guy down the stretch of games, in clutch type situations. And that matters because he isn't a fluid, natural basketball player. So you combine the non fluidness, with a shortage of confidence, and you get how Blake looks down the stretch of games. It's looking like he really would benefit from being a secondary decision maker, or as a #2 in general.

You know, I’m still willing to give Blake a little mor time to figure things out. This is the first time since he was a rookie that he’s the guy. He doesn’t know what his go-to move/shot is yet. He was going head-to-head against one of the best players of all time who was in beast mode. And, he doesn’t have the best guys on his team around him. I think he’s going to get better as a go-to guy.

I respectfully disagree (with shoe). If you are going to building around Blake then you have to....build around Blake. Surround him with knock down shooters. You wanna double blake? Well now he can kick out to 4 38% + 3pt shooters. Give him guards that thrive in PnR. It is very easy to defend someone when literally nobody else on the court is a threat. Why wouldn't I send a double and leave Thornwell, Dekker, Wes, etc open from 3?

I won't even criticize the front office or Doc for any moves or losses. This is month one of The Blake Era. Next season is when I would expect a team that can win 50ish games. Year 3 and beyond is when i would expect to be a legit contender.

Imagine where'd we be without Blake. 2 wins max and no light at the end of the tunnel. No buyer's remorse here and if y'all continue with that I'm blocking both of you.

Blake Gang. ClipperGang.

^^^ You’ve sold me erupt-bro. I’m all about the positive now. No moral victories, but I am seeing improvement. Sin-City and Juwan can play. I like Dekker and Harrell. We going to be all right. This season was always going to be an experiment.

(All that said, if Doc gets fired, that’s fine too)

That makes sense. And i'm optimistic in a lot of the pieces we have going with Sin and Jawun, Trez, Lou Will has been good. And we're w/o 3 starters right now so we look much worse that we would really be if fully healthy. Like any good big would struggle a bit if he was playing the entire game w/o a point guard, which Blake is doing.

I'm just less than enthused with what I'm seeing individually from Blake. But I'm riding regardless and I'm still a blake fan, despite how it sounds :lol

^^^ I hear you, but think about it though. How may great players have struggled playing with the kind of group we have going now? A lot. Without Pat, Gallo and Bev, we’re about on the level of the pre-Pau Lakers. Maybe a little worse. Kobe, who is indisputably one of the best of all time, struggled to make that team much better than .500. KD on OKC without Russ. AD the last few years in NO before Boogie. It’s hard, man. That’s why we’re in the Superteam era.

Someone named “Kendall Jenner” followed me on Twitter tonight. I thought at first it was the real one. It isn’t. I think it may actually be a dude. LOL:

So, DJ’s athleticism is kind of weird. Can’t think of another dude who can look so graceful and coordinated in the air and straight clumsy when he’s on the ground. Like, he cannot receive a bounce pass to save his life, especially in close traffic. But can catch damn near any lob thrown in his general vicinity.

His hands are perplexing.

I think it's a matter of comfort. When he's in the air catching lobs, there's not much decision to be made, hence him being more comfortable doing that.

When you pass it to him on the ground, ala how the game against the cavs started, he gets nervous and starts to bobble passes because in his mind he already knows that when he catches the ball he has to actually make an offensive decision. He's almost 30 and still isn't comfortable actually getting the ball and making decisions with it.

Damn you're 100% right on this. Making a ton of sense here.

Damn :lol

But, if we really are 05-06 laker status at the moment, why are we firing doc again lol?

I’m softening on the Doc thing. I still want a new coach, but it’s probably better to deal with it in the offseason, when there will be a bigger roster of potential replacements. Let him finish out the season. (That said, if he does get fired during the season, I won’t cry about it).
