OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2024-2025 SEASON THREAD

I hate how doc is talking but at the same time, I kind of like it though :lol  :o

Only from the standpoint that it adds to the rivalry. Legit rivalries where teams legit hate each other make things heated which in part makes the games when they do meet hella turnt  :smokin

Lol that's how I feel too. The clips are now universally hated. Being quiet and humble won't change that perception. Winning possibly will. Phil says **** like this all the time.

Doc ain't Phil, but he's a championship coach at the end of the day. Can't wait for the Clips vs Warriors game.

I wonder if everyone is playing tomorrow. If they do it could be a lot of fun

I get what you're saying and I'd probably feel that way too, if I thought Doc's talking was doing anything positive for the team. But I don't see that as the case. Doesn't seem to give our team more of an edge, but it sure makes opponents more motivated against us.

I have a feeling at least a few key guys will not be playing.

I actually like the last comment from Doc :lol

Just one step away from calling them vaginas :hat

I like that tyoenof talk. Not this "they got lucky" bs like it's their fault we choked.

Yeah, to be clear -- and I think I've said this before -- I agree that the Warriors are being way too sensitive and defensive. But Doc isn't the one who needs to be calling them out about it.

for a squad that hasnt won anything, we sure do have a TON of haters (random thoughts) but i honestly think we are gonna make alot of teams sorry this year.

CLE vs. LAC in the finals

YOUNG AR WHEW

Him and Smith have been the bright spots of the preseason. Lance looks to be coming on a bit playing with the starters. I think that's the way Doc should go to start the season.

From the very little basketball that I've watched this season, it is very hard for me to see Lance fitting on this team.

Wes was great last night. Going after boards, hitting open shots, just being an athletic guy off the bench.

Smith is a better passer than I gave him credit for.

Pierce reminds me of the Cassell acquistion. Looks like a guy that will never be rattled in the postseason. We will all of a sudden have 3 serious options in late-gme situations.

Ready for the real games to start :hat

He really was. He also hit some pretty big shots (I mean, as big as a shot in a preseason game can be), which is encouraging. TBH, he's been pretty solid all preseason. Doesn't try to do to much, plays hard and has, I believe, shot a good percentage on open 3s. He's doing exactly what I hoped he would when we signed him.

From his Laker stint, and really his entire career, all of it suggested that out of all of the new additions to the team, he would be the one to fit in the most fluidly.

People in the NBA thread laughed when I said he could be a solid contributor this year, but the facts are in the Numbers. Wesley Johnson was almost an elite 3 point shooter when he a) didn't take more than a dribble and B) in the corners. Using Matt Barnes as a reference, there's no reason why Wesley Johnson couldn't be matt barnes with better defense. It appears that he'll fit in with the starters or 2nd unit which is great.

I personally prefer wes to start over lance, although Wes appears to fit in with both units and lance appears to be much better with the starters. I can understand why Lance would start, and the shooting we lose in the starting lineup with lance hopefully won't be too much of a hit on our overall scheme if he's defending and playmaking at a relatively high level.

The NBA Thread is strange. You can say something like "Wes can potentially be a nice fit with the Clippers" and someone will takenit as you saying he is a top 5 shooting guard.

Or you can point out that Jamal is a minues player, or the bench in general is not good enough for a championship run and someone will say you are making excuses.

You get called a homer for being optimistic.
You get called a homer for being realistic.
That's the main reason I rarely talk about the Clippers in that thread.

I forgot to mention Wes' defense. He's longer/more athletic than I thought. Saw him change someone's shot as they went up for a layup. I just love that the 2nd unit has athletes now. No more counting on Spencer and Big baby to try alter/block shots.

My favorite part of this year's team is the versatility. Doc will have 82 games to figure out a couple units that play well together.

Front court
pp-blake-dj
Pp-smith-blake
Lance-blake-dj
Lance-smith-blake
Lance-pp-blake
Wes-pp-blake

Etc..

Mthere are like 20 different combos he can try out to see what works best to close games out/gice guys a breather. Let's hope he does.

Or the whole "Cp and doc have no excuses this year" and the same ppl who are saying that in that thread dont even think they are good enough to win it :lol

You guys

Or kinda how it's funny that someone can say "Jamal Crawford wasn't the main reason Clippers didn't advance" resulting in a half dozen of your "folks really think Jamal Crawford is a top 3 SG". But I'll let you tell it

It's going to be fun

Bruh how do you always manage to come in here when Jamal gets brought up :lol

My goodness.

You stay making little comments that you know will get people going at the Clippers or the fans. You were the main one building up the bench for the sole purpose of being able to say the Clippers/cp3/blake/doc underachieved. I seen you how you work so I was just going the opposite direction with it.

You got banned from the Clippers off season thread for trolling. You're not slick :lol

You would know a lot about not being slick wouldn't you

I didn't get banned from that thread fyi, but again, I'll let you tell it

You probably agree that the Clippers under achieved though. I know some of the other Clipper fans said the same thing, said that CP and the starters blew it, so what's the problem? I make one comment about Jamal being pinpointed and you take it up another level spewing NT'ers think he's a top 3 SG. Believe it or not, I wasn't trolling with that comment, I was actually trying to have a rational convo, you can pull up all the posts

Nah, I meant the "chris paul needs more help" comments.

Everybody agreed the clippers choked. And we wanted to trade Jamal because he is the one piece with value who would be easy to replace. Who else would we trade? CP3? Blake? DJ? JJ? Barnes may have been the only other option and we did end up moving him.

We pointed out that he was trash andthat we wanted to trade him. You took that as us saying the only reason we lost is because of him. I guarantee no clipper fan ever said that. You find that I got $150 for you.

-edit-

I feel like I always have to say this on an internet disagreement but I'm not trying to come at you :lol

These internet disagreements always sound like Im bout to break my keyboard when I read them outloud :lol

I feel you bro, trust me I DO NOT WISH HARM ON YOUR FANS OR THE TEAM. I actually like the Clippers, the "Chris Paul needs more help" is a jab, I could see how you would be annoyed by it. So sorry, lol

But really my main thing during the Houston series was looking back at the thread during the games. I kid you not, you will see 5:1 posts about Jamal Crawford (5) and misc Clipper comment (1) ratio. That was my only feel on it, like he was being pinpointed more than anyone else

I like all Clipper fans on the board, you all have a sense of reality. Except sometimes Shoe, but Shoe is my guy too

Read that Lance is officially the starting 3 for opening night. Had to be done. He was so much more effective as a starter in the preseason.

Has there been any talk of Dawson getting a decent amount of minutes or is Doc gon' Doc?
