OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2024-2025 SEASON THREAD

Much as I'd like to blame Doc, something is telling me that Ballmer might be behind this. Too rash and extreme of a move for Doc to be acting on his own.
But Balmer loves Blake.

Like A lot.

So if anyone is behind the notion of Not trading Blake I would assume it's Ballmer. But I could be wrong though.

Let me just get this out of the way.

The Clippers have issues. But every team not named the Warriors have issues. Only one team can win a ring.

Currently, we are set to face a historically great team in the 2nd round without homecourt. That's not an excuse, that is what it is. There are no trades or moves that can alleviate that formality.

Now do I think the Clippers can beat the spurs and GSW in a playoff series w/o homecourt? Yes. It's unlikely, and I wouldn't put money on the clippers, but I definitely give them a shot. They are very good against the elite and despite their flameouts in the postseason, they have beaten the warriors, they have beaten the spurs, they should of beaten OKC, they are right there and you never know what could happen come april and may.

But even if we flame out again, trading blake or Chris Paul, while they are both under contract, is NOT the answer. Like I said, there's nothing out there that could make you more viable of a contender than what you have now. Keep working on trying to hit on some buy low guys and roll the dice again. You may as well keep the 26 year old superstar and CP is still a top pg in the league. As long as you have blake cp reddick and jordan you have a shot. As good of shot as any.

Trading Blake or CP is NOT the answer IMO

Fully agree with all of this. There is no point in breaking up the core in the middle of this season because it will not put us any closer to true championship contention. To do so would scream of panic and overreaction.

But Balmer is an emotional guy who doesn't exactly have a stellar track record for business decisions and GM Doc is . . . GM Doc. So, anything is possible around here, I'm afraid.

Sources: Denver reached out and asked about Blake Griffin but Clippers weren't interested. Not much discussion

Take it a step further,

why break up the core in the offseason? Again, anything short of KD for Blake is a no go for me and until CP shows some sort of notable regression, you can't convince me that another PG would make the clippers better. He's coming off of a month where he was like 21 and 12 or something crazy like that. So if it isn't a straight steph or Russ for CP, then I'm not here for that either.

If the Clips really are serious about putting their best foot forward as far as title hopes are concerned, they kind of are stuck unless one of the aforementioned things takes place.

Clippers not interested in trading Blake Griffin despite proposals from other teams http://fw.to/EKgAoAj

^^^ But none of them ever broke their hand on an equipment managers face though . . .

Well said. The media and this 2nd round or blow it up narrative that they've made for the clippers has added to the pressure...and the fan perception. Clips could easily be the 2011 Mavericks if they follow that game plan. Everything you said is spot on.

REPPED

Back to the guys who are actually playing for us - off to a good start in Orlando. Would be nice if we could go at least 3-1 on this trip with GSA and SA both coming up after the break.

I'm finally going to give us some credit - we are pretty good. Our road play has been incredible recently. I have to reluctantly give Doc some credit for that.

Not gonna judge this team until Blake is back. These wins are nice but they mean nothing jn regards to how we will play with Blake in the offense.

Agree, but some credit has to be given for what the team is doing without him. I was chalking it up to an easy schedule, but these road wins are more than that .

oh my post wasn't a reply to your post. My bad :lol

I agree with you. I just wanted to make a point that we (I) probably should keep in mind that we're playing a very different style right now so wins and losses shouldn't sway hs too much in either direction. Doc and CP3 deserve a lot of credit for adjusting tho. This is why I still say CP > Westbrook. Give him a sack of **** and he can still manage a playoff spot. Can adjust his game any way he needs to.

Their defense has improved by leaps and bounds as the season has went on.

If their defense can stay elite by season's end, they'll be a force.

Reblunding still concerns me. And the bench has been pretty good, hopefully that continues.

Team won 26 road games last season. Winning on the road has been a regular season staple under doc.

Chris Paul is so good man. Really finding his 14-15' self.

Call it what it is. Clips look very good right now. With doc at the helm, the offense is always gonna be there especially with CP and JJ. The defense though. Its FAR BETTER than it was last year by all star break. Thats extremely encouraging and the bench is further along as well. Like I said a few post back, there's a lot to like here

quietly 18 of the last 22. always said we'd get it together by xmas/the first of the year.

at this point, i think we are maybe 1 of 3 teams that can beat gsw in a playoff series along w/ okc and sas

18 of 22, and 2 of those losses were to Minnesota and Sacramento.

As long as their defense holds up, and the bench holds steady, they can absolutely get up with anyone in the west. Easily the best looking team under the Doc Rivers helm. They have been the best Road team in the league since Blake's injury, and that means something.

This is the highest def rtg for a team under doc at this point in the season. Top 10 defense, and top 5 offense, and have been doing all of this w/o their best player. Amidst the Warriors, Spurs hoopla, the Clippers have been extremely impressive. What are they, 19-4 without blake? That's just good basketball man. Extremely impressive. Doc's playcalling during this stretch has been top notch along with Chris Paul and JJ being elite.

Rotations, Rebounding, and lack of homecourt still are very serious problems with this team moving forward, but this team is very good. It's taken some catastrophic collapses for them to flame out in the postseason, so the hope is that one of these postseason runs they can stay away from that. But whatever, playoffs are still a long ways away and there's still a lot that needs to play out.

This team, despite everything, is now a game ahead of the 56 win pace from last season. Playoff failures have kind of made people take consistency for granted when talking about the la clippers.

There's something to be said about being able to win 55+ games every season for a 4,5 season stretch amd giving yourself a real chance to win it all. Especially when the franchise was god awful for so long.
