OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2024-2025 SEASON THREAD

he gets what he gets in this market. Doesn't mean I'm gonna be happy about it. Austin is painful the majority of the time. The saying "coaches son" doesn't apply for once. I can tell Doc worked on nothing with him growing up.

Wesley Johnson back for the MLE

I'm happy about this.

He was okay for the most part last year, and was good on others. He's what the Clippers need as far as corner shooting is concerned, and given the clips proximity to the cap, he's about as good as you can get.

Some reasoning as to why the wes johnson was a solid one

He shot a career high 42% on corner 3's last season while attempting over 40% of all his 3's from the corners. If anyone has watched the Clippers in recent years, being able to hit that corner 3 has been imperative.

In the 17 games he played with the core 4, that lineup posted an offensive rating of 105 and a defensive rating of 97. This is good. Not spectacular, but good.

I am hoping that we bring back Luc as well.

- I absolutely think the field will catch up to GSW. I think there's a chance they don't finish first in the west. More teams are going to switch out on them, forcing them into lower quality 3's, which will aid in their loss column, I think.

- In any event, this is a big day for the Clippers. They've got to find value at 25 and 33 if they don't end up trading the picks. With so many free agents that legit might not come back, whoever we get at 25 and 33 may be needed to contribute right away, as opposed to years past. And this is a draft deep with rotation players, so it's not far fetched at all to find value at the 25th and 33rd picks. If nothing else, they could prove to be some potential assets that we can use down the line. Doc doesn't keep drat picks all that often, so this is a special day

- With that being said, I have my eyes on Brice Johnson from UNC. 4 year player, mobile and agile, 6'11, (albeit a small 6'11) and IMO ready to play right away. With the back up big positions in flux, he could be someone of need and value that can contribute from opening night.
Posted this before the draft and it's starting to ring true. These guys are going to have to help man, we're broke

CJ Wilcox, unless something changes will be a prominent player for our 2nd unit, if /when Jamal moves on.

Good with Austin, Wes re-signing. Good with Jamal moving on, business is business.

Bring Cole back now and lets do this **** one-mo-gain. Just keep all trainer's faces away from Blake's fists.

I would be shocked....SHOCKED if Cole came back.

Timo and Joakim set the market w/ 60 plus million dollar deals for centers.

I haven't had time to look up exactly what we're going to offer Cole, but I feel like he's going to get offered something by someone else that we just can't afford.

For the record Cole told me directly he loved LA and that his wife loves LA and would like to stay. Wes, Cole, and I get cut up by the same barber...my cousin lol

Yeah, I know it's a long shot in the current market. But Cole strikes me as the type who is just different enough that he may prioritize other factors over the biggest pay day. So I'm still hoping there's a chance.

I have nothing to base this off but I would be willing to bet my next check on Cole coming back.

By the way, exactly how were we going to pay someone like Bayless if you preferred him over Austin lol?

you said Bayless got in the neighborhood of $38M, No?

Thats how. Pay him a couple mil extra?

Seriously, put the Clipper hat down. You can;t dispute Bayless is better than Austin.

Austin is painful at times. When he's painful, he's very painful. Has great moments.

Not saying he was overpaid though. Someone would have given him that money.

I really hope so. But man, how does he not get $14M+ per year?

The Mozgov deal will look even worst if Cole signs for less than what Mozgov did.

Imagine thinking when we picked him up last year, Cole would be making $12+M per at this time? I would have thought DJ was injured for the year and Cole stepped in with 10 and 12 per game for us

The thought of Cole Aldriche going to a black barber is :hat :lol

I was 99% sure that lawdog1 lawdog1 was a brother. I'm equally as sure that he's visited his share of black barbershops in his lifetime.

shoeking2102 shoeking2102 , plug my man in with your cousin. We can maybe get to Doc this way. Maybe

Austin still has some cringeworthy moments, but he's improved a lot since he got here and always plays hard on both ends. I think he'll continue to improve too. I'd rather have him than Bayless. Bayless is ok for an occasional big scoring game, but is generally food on D. There's a reason he's on a different team every year, couple years.

bayless is always a good trade piece.

Rivers can improve, but i think he's close to his ceiling. I don't see drastic improvement. He really peaked in high school. Looked great his junior year, starting to show he might have been slightly overrated his senior year, and at Duke, he was just ok.

Again, he plays like he;s never been coached. Sad when your Dad is a lifer.

Glad we didn't lose him though. We need to keep as many guys as possible.

You dont get it.

We couldnt afford bayless.

We couldnt even afford Austin but we had his bird rights so we could go over to sign him.

This isnt about whos better out of austin or jerryd. Signing Jerryd would have really handicapped us.

Bird rights my man. We cant afford jerryd, let alone Austin. Signing bayless would have handicapped us far more than Austin.

No way would we have been able give bayless a competitive deal while keeping some semblance of flexibility.

Actually, I don't believe I have been in an officially black barbershop. I attribute the way I am to spending a lot of time at my neighborhood Boys Club when I was kid/teen and being on a lot of travelling basketball teams with mostly black teammates.

But the fact that Cole goes to a black barber makes sense. His line-ups are always pretty clean.
