NORCALHUSSLA: who would wanna stand and bang with Gomi? He had a good plan and stuck to it. He used his jab to keep Gomi at bay. He does tend to choke in big fights but I think he has the best chance at beating Aldo compared anyone else in that division.

I wonder if the resale of my extra 128 tickets will go up or down because of this... Jones certainly does give the prospect of a more entertaining fight...

fwiw, Vegas sets lines at where they think money will come in evenly so that they have no risk on 1 side or the other, doesnt necesarily mean that they favor a certain side (but you already knew that since I see that you frequent the NT Sportsbook thread

Maybe I just slept on it (busy week at the office) but I didn't see that -150 line pop up, atleast not on 5dimes.  I was about to reload my 5Dimes account with $1,500 and plug the whole thing on Jones if that line was still good.  Looks like it has creeped up to -225 now.  Little bit too rich for my blood.  At this point I hope that more money pours in on Jones and pushes Shogun up to +200.  If I can get Shogun at 2:1 dog rates, that is an excellent value play IMO.

I think that UFC128 will be in bigger demand with Jones in the M/E now.  The hypetrain for Jones is going full bore right now and its not like Shad was a household name to casual fans anyways.  If the UFC markets the fight correctly (and they probably will) there is going to be a ton of excitement leading up to this.

Serious Question. Is a month enough time for a guy to get ready for a fight like this? I know Bader didn't reallly put anything on Bones, but usually these guys have months to prepare (not just physically, but training a certain way, etc.) I personally don't think it's too short for a young guy like Jones, but wanted your opinions.

^^ my uneducated response:

assuming Bones didnt take any significant damage and can jump right into a new training camp, 1 month should be sufficient. His cardio/conditioning/weight are already going to be in top shape since he is just coming off a fight. For strategy and gameplan, I think Jackson should be able to get him ready inside of a month. The biggest concern for Jones (my opinion) is going to be Shoguns jits, and its not like Jones would be able to get THAT much better at sub defense if he had an extra couple weeks to a month.

Yeah about the line I was just pointing out that they are giving a lot of room for a JJ win.  A guy with limited experience and only a month to prepare for a title fight.  I would have expected an edge to Shoguns side.

If JJ loses... Id be interested in a Machida matchup.

Has anyone purchased PRE-SALE tickets @ UFC FIGHT CLUB?

If so, do they send you a hard copy or does that have an extra charge? How long does it take for them to send it?

I'm guessing they can also send emailed tickets, but I'd like to have hard copies as well.

Rampage vs Rashad 2 may have a different outcome than the original. Perhaps it will be Rashad with some ring rust the 2nd time around.

To be honest I have no interest in Page Evans 2. Not now anyway. I am FAR more excited for Page & Thiago. Give us a slugfest.

^ oh of course I completely agree, Silva vs Rampage woulda been a a great stand up battle. If Silva is indeed out, I wanna see Rampage actually finish Rashad this time around.

Dont wanna see Rampage/Rashad rematch. First one was boring as hell, and Id bet this one would be too.
Rampage/Thiago sounds real interesting though

On a sidenote,

at fighters that throw their mouthpiece into the crowd after a fight. Dont nobody want that.

i've never seen aldo's teammate marlon sandro fight but i was hearing many people thought he was right behind aldo as the best at 145.  sandro recently lost, maybe aldo will follow.  hominick might give him a good fight if he can avoid eating a bunch of kicks and knees.
the bantamweight division is way more interesting since it's so stacked.  a lot of crazy matchups.

Not like GSP hasn't used the same tactics in many of his title fights.
But won't it be Epic if K-1 Jake Shields knocks out GSP standing.

I probably would have to go immediately change clothes from poopin in my pants due to sheer shock.

and you're right Rusty.  lemme rephrase my original post.

Spider gotta fight Robot Frog Blanket first assming Robot Frog Blanket gets by the American Blanket.

Man, this is if only GSP goes wreckless standing up. I doubt it as he's been fighting "safely". Plus, he's disciplined standing up, GSP getting caught "again" would be the last thing on my mind.

Anyhow, and T.O. NTers going to UFC 129? I got my tickets in 5 minutes @ sec 112. Trying to refresh to scalp some and I can't even find anything anymore

According the Sherdog, he's only had 1 pro fight.  My guess is that he would not be able to compete with even a lower tier UFC fighter right now.

Yup. Overeem/Werdum and Barnett/Rodgers should be for April 9th for Strikeforce 33. I don't think there's dates for the rest.

I'm looking at the SF card for this weekend and trying to do a bit of research for potential bets.

Can anyone school me on Gian Villante? Is this kid supposed to be a hot prospect? legit?

I thought that Chad Griggs was a tomato can that they brought in tailor made for Lashley to win (even though he faded). The price has moved some in Villante's favor, but I'm wondering if its still "free" money at -250. Anyone have any insight? I honestly cant say that I've ever seen a Ring of Combat match so I dont know anything about this guy Villante.

Toronto's appetite for the UFC is proving to be near insatiable.

The mixed martial arts juggernaut enjoyed a record day at the box office Thursday, selling more than 42,000 tickets -- its entire original ticket block -- for UFC 129 on April 30 at the Rogers Centre.

And they went in the first day of a pre-sale, with some paying a premium of almost $90 to join the fan club that had first crack at the tickets for the UFC's first show in Ontario.

"I LOVE CANADA!" UFC president Dana White told The Canadian Press in a text message.

The previous UFC attendance record was UFC 124 in Montreal, which drew 23,152 to the Bell Centre in December. White often refers to Canada as the mecca of mixed martial arts.

"To say the response was overwhelming would be an understatement," said Tom Wright, the UFC's director of Canadian operations.

"In less than an hour we were pretty well down to some singles (tickets)."

It took the UFC even less time -- just seven or eight minutes after tickets went on sale to members of the UFC Fight Club at 10 a.m. ET -- to decide it needed to make several thousand more tickets available so there would be some left when the general public gets a chance to buy them Saturday.

On Friday, another pre-sale is set for those who subscribe to the UFC newsletter.

Wright would not detail the possible total number of seats on sale but said 50,000 would be "pushing it."

"I'd love to see a first digit (of) five but time will tell."

Tickets ranging in price from $50 to $800 went fast.

A search for best available tickets at noon produced a $50 limited view seat in the upper tier 500 level of the Rogers Centre.

With service charges and a one-year Fight Club membership ($88.19), the total rose to $153.69.

Some of those who managed to buy tickets Thursday were quick to put them up for resale. One seller offered eight side-by-side seats in Section 115 -- face value of $150 each -- for $4,500 or $562.50 each.

Another on Craigslist offered two $50 tickets for $175 each "or highest bidder.

Tickets also appeared on Stubhub, a ticket reseller.

The Fight Club has about 20,000 members worldwide, including some 7,000 in Canada. They are allowed to buy up to eight tickets in the pre-sale.

But being a member does not guarantee getting a ticket.

"Incredibly disappointed as a fan and fight club member still couldn't get tickets for UFC 129. Even at 10am. Horrible," Amy Miranda tweeted to White.

Others were more upbeat.

"Fight club membership well worth the money now that I've the tickets," tweeted Brian Doran.

Would-be buyers were able to view the Rogers Centre configuration for the MMA show on www.ufc.com, including the view from the seats on sale. The virtual display came together in just 13 days, Wright said.

Wright said the ticket rush interest showed fans the UFC had made the "right decision" to come to the Rogers Centre.

"You can imagine if we'd gone to the ACC (Air Canada Centre) -- great facility but we might be disappointing 30,000 fans if we went to the ACC for this first fight (card in Toronto)," he added.

The Rogers Centre card will be the UFC's sixth in Canada. Montreal has hosted UFC 83, 97, 113 and 124 while Vancouver hosted UFC 115.

The Rogers Centre says its capacity is 46,105 for baseball and 46,374 for football, not including luxury suite seats.

WrestleMania X8 attracted 68,237 in March 2002 to the then SkyDome. Bands like AC/DC have drawn crowds of 45,000.
