I actually applaud Gardner for trying something like that. You guys act like he flat out beat at the plate. Mauer BARELY made it there.

EDIT: And I'm switching between channels right now but.. would Cervelli have made it to 1st without that play by Gardner?

It's just too risky of a play to try and make with only one out.

And it looked to me like he would've been safe at 1st if Gardner would have gone back to 3rd.

What if he would have jumped instead of slid in there.
Lord knows how many plays like that I've seen where I ask myself the same thing.

IMO that would've been a smart move.

Just like in basketball at the end of games instead of waiting to be fouled intentionally, just launch the ball in the air... It'll take forever for theball to come back down
