He deserves it.... I'm not into this loyalty garbage for any of them... He #@@@%+$ sucks and should have been on the bench in May..
Posada pissed and moaned and sat out a game because his feelings were hurt when he was dropped to 9th in the order.. At the time as a Designated Hitter he was hitting .165 with a .000 against left-handers..
Since then (May 13) he's had 3 hr's 16 rbi's in 172 at bats..
In 274 At-bats as a DH which is half a season for a 39 year old.. .218 8HR's 25 rbi's.
He's a terrible fielding catcher who couldn't throw himself out, he can't run, doesn't hit for contact...and he hits for about as much power as Brett Gardner... He is the DH not our speed guy...
All I can say is good riddance, and I hope he retires Nov. 1..
By the way did I mention we are paying him $13.1 million...
